In a small hotel across from the Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention, a reporter from New Express Daily, dressed in an isolation suit, interviewed a dozen “unusual” patients from different areas of China. Their symptoms are painful and debilitating, and AIDS-like, but repeated tests for HIV have come up negative.

When a parasite lives in the host, it can only infect the host.

If, at the optimal time, it can kill the host, it allows it to infect other hosts or lay eggs for further reproduction.

They certainly ought to be quarantining these people. Which is what the Public Health folks should have done when AIDs started appearing. They let it get away & how many people have suffered as a result?

Geneticists, being something of jokers when it comes to naming genes, discovered a gene that prevented programmed cell death (apoptosis) and called it the INDY gene.

INDY = I'm not dead yet

YES, from Monty Python's “Bring out yer dead!” skit.

How can you forget the welfare-receiving "entitlement" class?

Perhaps that is an indicator that it needs a mate to breed with or to lay more eggs.

Most well evolved pathogens do not kill the host, but allow it to survive and infect its cohorts.

That is one reason why a disease that “crosses over” from preying upon one species to our own species is especially troublesome - they tend to kill at a virulence that is detrimental to its pathogenicity as it kills much too often and too quickly.

Simian Immunodeficiency virus, the most likely ancestor of Human Immunodeficiency virus, isn't nearly as deadly as AIDS to most monkeys.

Quarantining queers? Never happen, not in my lifetime nor yours. Quarantining anyone is a subject that is forbidden. One minority would yell it’s racism and the program would instantly die.

Per the article: "However, the disease seems to be highly contagious and can spread by contact via any bodily fluid—through kissing, shared utensils, sweat, and even protected sex."

Sweat? Scary stuff! Would sound very difficult to avoid if this disease gets out of control. Human nature being what it is, people are not going to avoid all contact with others.

You mean the This is Not a Ping list?

I have connections. ;-)

I would think they would have to identify the type of infection first and then develop the blood test. That is still a couple of steps away.

The PC maggots have allowed so much TB and other diseases to spread from our open border with Mexico, emergency rooms are dealing with things from the 1800’s...but the fat loser Nappy tells me the border is secure.

I’m puzzled.

High 3rd World diseases striking Americans, anchor babies and illegals and the only port of entry is sneaking across...but, we’re safe and secure.

Political correctness with illegals and Islam will end up killing us.

If this thing spreads, the age of “free sex” will be a long lost memory. It can be exchanged through kissing and contact with any body fluids. This disease will make classrooms, dorm life, public toilets and public transportation a risk.

I hope they are being more careful about the spread of this virus in the US than they were about AIDS. I don’t expect anything proactive from our government and Americans are not paying attention enough to protect themselves until they see disease all around them.

If we had normal borders, this is a disease we would be checking immigrants and travelers for to protect public health.
