State Election News: All votes in: Kloppenburg leads unoffcially by 219 votes, recount is next

Wisconsin News

Votes from the final precinct to be counted in the Wisconsin State Supreme Court race are in and tallied and with all the votes and precincts counted across the state, JoAnne Kloppenburg finishes with an unofficial lead of 204 votes over incumbent justice David Prosser.

The final precinct to be counted was the Town of Lake Mills in Jefferson County. Problems with the tally sheets delayed the vote count last evening until just before noon this morning.

Prosser has said he will ask for a statewide recount and given the close margin, the state will pay for it. The final margin was 740,087 for Kloppenburg and 739,883 for Prosser, both sides at 50 percent of the vote in this closely contested election.

I usually try not to think about going down another, more “decisive” path when stuff like this happens but man, this s**t is getting pretty damn obvious and all we do is b***h about it on FR. Granted, it’s WI but on Rush yesterday, he pointed out that only two years ago, Posser won by a big margin - so what happened in the mean time? It stinks and we just roll over...
can anyone say banana republic?

Odd how recount mania seems to stike most often where voting laws or loose or non-existant.

IIRC,WI and MN both allow “vouching” for fellow voters at the poles. (MN I am certain of)

I believe our MN legislature votes TODAY on Voter ID being required and banning vouching as well.

That's good news. Voting should be a respected privilege, not just a diminished frivolity to be abused by the left.

In Wisconsin, Governor Walker and the Republican legislature made a big mistake by not making Voter ID the first order of business when they took office in January. Had they done so, this current election fiasco could have most likely been avoided.

I concur.

I see that you suffer the fuzzy memory illness here.

The 2000 FL called for Gore early by the network and cable news, yet not all the polling place had closed hence the voting hadn’t stopped.

By the time all precincts reported in, Bush had the lead. It was during recount and countless recounts that Gore kept picking up votes because he only wanted to recount those counties that kept giving him votes.

And we had the national debacle of squinting at the ballot for hanging chads to discern voter intent.

Every recount always favors only one party (true in Washington, true in Minnesota), care to name that party?

/Nice try. What are you, an embed troll?

No, I was being sarcastic and apparently I thought I didn’t need a [/sarc] to avoid the *sarchasm*.

Yes, Richard J. Daley sat on his inner-city tabulations in 1960 to see how many votes JFK-LBJ would need to prevail in liberal IL. The Republican “leadership” has rarely seen the “connection.” Daley even boasted of doing such.
