In 1973's Yom Kippur War Israel was almost overwhelmed by Arab forces. Prime Minister Golda Meir authorized a nuclear alert, ordering 13 atomic bombs be prepared for missiles and aircraft. Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Simha Dinitz threatened “very serious conclusions" if there was not an immediate airlift of supplies. This forced U.S. President Richard Nixon to make emergency airlifts of state of the art military supplies to Israel.

I don't foresee the present Kenyan-in-chief that we have illegally taking up space in the WH coming to Israel's aid like Nixon did. Therefore, we are about to witness a new and dark page in history.

That’s very interesting—was that detailed in the book “The Samson Option”? They may very well have to use nuclear weapons on Iran, since the US has provided no leadership in stopping their nuclear program. We launch cruise missiles against Libya but ignore Iran that is exporting weapons to the Taliban that are killing Americans.

I remember reading in Daniel Yergin’s book “The Prize” about the Yom Kippur war that the C-5s out of Dover had to wait 12 hours for the winds to die down at the refueling base (Lajes Field, Azores—where I spent 2.5 years). Consequently the giant C-5s flew into Israel during daylight hours and enraged the Arabs. The OPEC oil embargo of ‘73-’74 was the result.
