Obambi’s already let one of his soldiers go to prison because he won’t produce a birth certificate, so nothing surprises me as to what this illegal alien will do. So, he’ll veto that spending bill to show his absolute contempt for our military.

Anybody surprised? The only thing “essential” to this regime is the horde of civil service employees, basically government apparatchiks, who have taken over our lives. In Obama’s mind, the military exists only to enforce his and their will, but since Americans are so docile, the military hasn’t been required for this purpose and can be shoved off to the side until needed.

What we should really be worried about is what happens if the US “goes Wisconsin” - that is, law enforcement personnel suddenly become enforcers for the public service unions, which essentially are enforcing aparatchik power, and try to do so even when the office-holders in the actual government are not leftwing. They become a power unto themselves.

I would love to be asking questions at that press conference. First question, since the military is not essential and you are the commander in chief, are you not essential too?

You would dare ask the Messiah that?

Granted, Obama has made some dumb moves in the last two years, but cutting off paychecks for people fighting wars?!

The 'Rats have done everything they can at every opportunity go keep them from being able to vote. Why should that have any qualms about cutting off their paychecks?

If I were maximum leader Soetero, I’d be careful about upsetting the military. They’re the people that are packing serious fire power and know how to use it.

Our brave military is far too honorable to do this, but what they should do is pack up their gear and just come home. Let Obama and his band of ‘Rats fight the danged wars.

This reveals their total ignorance of history. Even an unserious dilettante cannot help but notice that pay issues are a frequent factor in mutinies and military takeovers. I believe that several Roman emperors were removed for failure to pay their legions.

"The Obama Administration Prepared to Deem Soldiers “Non-Essential” Workers"

Go ahead, 0bummer. I dare you.

It would be political suicide to do so. Everyone knows a soldier. (Well, outside of places like San Fran Nan's district they do.)

Something of this magnitude really needs to be verified.

From the article:

"Now, I admit I’m putting a few weasel words in here. It’s not because I don’t trust Ace or Mike Flynn, it’s because it’s hard to believe Democrats any politician could be this stupid. Granted, Obama has made some dumb moves in the last two years, but cutting off paychecks for people fighting wars?! He might as well go on TV and announce he’s changed his mind about running in 2012. If you choose to cut off troops salaries for political gain, you’re done. Mike Flynn does note that this change from previous policy appears to be part of “draft” guidelines, i.e. not set in stone. I expect some White House flak will be claiming it was all a big misunderstanding by tomorrow morning."

I don’t think that the military can get paid even if the money was on hand because if the Fed shuts down, that includes OPM who process the military’s pay.

There was a thread today that the federal gov workers will get unemployment checks during the shutdown.

If they can get a check, so can the military!!!

The point you don’t seem to understand is that unemployment compensation and military pay come from two TOTALLY different appropriations of money. One cannot fund the other...it is and has always been illegal.

Military pay can only come from a defense appropriation.

I don’t think the average person is going to care about accounting niceties.

It is WRONG not to pay the military their lawfully due pay.

Period.

Arguing over where it came from is a distraction from the main issue.
