Gingrich: Obama holding troops 'hostage' over budget
CNN ^ | April 8, 2011 | Alexander Mooney

Likely Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich Friday laid the blame of a possible government shutdown squarely on the feet of President Obama, saying the commander-in-chief is intentionally holding U.S. troops "hostage" so Democrats can prevail in the budget showdown.

"Let's be clear," Gingrich said during a speech at Liberty University Friday. "President Obama is deliberately seeking to hold the men and women in uniform hostage so the politicians can fight over the budget and use the threat of not paying the troops their weapon."

Gingrich's comments are in reference to the president's pledge Thursday to veto a Republican-backed spending bill that aimed to cut spending by $12 billion and fund the Pentagon for the remainder of the current fiscal year. The president and Democrats opposed the measure because of the programs it would cut, including a provision that would prevent Washington, DC taxpayer money to be used to fund abortion providers.

The whole government is hostage to taxpayers paying for someone else's abortions.

You gotta love the Rats. Whether it is military ballots or funding, they screw these people every time they get a chance. But if you call them on it, they wrap themselves in the flag. Keep it up dopes. Americans side with the troops, not hack losers like you.

Our son is in the Navy, and is supporting his wife and newborn daughter. He called today wondering how he will be able to handle receiving half-pay for awhile. He and his fellow service members lay the blame soley at the feet of the Democrats. (He also mentioned that while he was stationed in Japan, he received his absentee ballot AFTER the 2008 election.)

Good ole Newt. I see that he (once again) had the great courage to come out and say something like this, AFTER Sarah Palin already stepped to the plate.

Newt is still an effing idiot after all these years.

If the Obozo administration doesn't pay the troops for three months then their contracts are voided. They can leave if they so choose.

So who really has the upper hand on this one?

So much for the “Constitutional Scholar” in office, and so much for lizard boy.

The guy had his chance to be somebody but he punted. Move over, Newtie, it's time for a Palin or Trump.

The Republicans saved lots of tax money keeping Obummer in the White House all day FRIDAY. Couldn’t travel or go on a vacation with taxpayer money today anyway.

Yep. What is bizarre is that Obama just launched an uneeded war in Libya that requires the military and then doesn’t want to pay them. Incredible.
