Donald Trump Responds (Slams NYT Columnist Gail Collins)
NYTimes ^

Posted on 04/09/2011 2:31:20 AM PDT by quesney

Re “Donald Trump Gets Weirder,” by Gail Collins (column, April 2):

Even before Gail Collins was with the New York Times, she has written nasty and derogatory articles about me. Actually, I have great respect for Ms. Collins in that she has survived so long with so little talent. Her storytelling ability and word usage (coming from me, who has written many bestsellers) is not at a high level. More importantly, her facts are wrong!

...I don't need Ms. Collins's advice. There is a large segment of our society who believe Barack Obama, indeed, was not born in the United States. His grandmother from Kenya stated, on tape, that he was born in Kenya and she was there to watch the birth. His family in Honolulu is fighting over which hospital in Hawaii he was born in-they just don't know.

He has not been able to produce a “birth certificate” -merely a totally unsigned “certificate of live birth”-which is of very little significance. Unlike a birth certificate, a certificate of live birth is very easy to obtain. Equally of importance, there are no records in Hawaii that a Barack Hussein Obama was born there-no bills, no doctors names, no nurses names, no registrations, no payments, etc. As far as the two notices placed in newspapers, some feel the grandparents put an ad in order to show that he was a citizen of the U.S. with all of the benefits. Everybody, after all, and especially then, wanted to be a citizen.

[...]

For some reason, the press protects President Obama beyond anything or anyone I have ever seen.

[...]

Open your eyes, Gail, there's at least a good chance that Barack Hussein Obama has made mincemeat out of our great and cherished Constitution!

Thank you. I wouldn’t go to the NYT to read it, alhtough I certainly go the gist of it. Go Mr. Trump. Someone finally has the balls to take it to them, ask the questions we’ve been asking and do so without fear of repercussions. He’ earned my respect. I’m sick and tired of the pussy-footing around on this. The media sold a bill of goods called Barack Obama on a dumbed downed public. If we can’t get a real person to run..and get elected, it will mean that the Republic is lost. Not saying its Trump but he sure has changed the game. Finally.

I think Trump already has researched the issue. He knows Hussein cannot produce a birth certificate.

I hope you are right. Given that, the Repub national committee should focus exclusively on gettting the state legislators of Florida to pass a law requiring a legitimate birth certificate, proof of natural born citzenship and a public release of such information to be put on the 2012 presidential ballot. Florida's Houses and governor are Republican, and also Florida is a huge swing state. Obama, practically, has to win Florida in order to win the presidential election. Or else, he will have a terrrible uphill battle.

If BHO does not produce such documents, he does not get on the ballot and by default, loses the sunshine state. IOW, he must put up or shut up-or as they say in chess, "Check".

“Yep. At least I believe Trump loves America, which is more than I can say for Obama.”

For certain, even old Slick Willie does not hate America as Obama does. Anyone who believes Obama loves America should go and set up his chair by the bunny trail and watch for the Easter Bunny.

Let’s face it: Trump is a very, successful, very busy man who fired off a letter with a couple of mistakes in it. Big-Friggin’-Deal! Nevertheless, for a moment he managed to wipe the smug smile off Ms. Collins’ ferret-face. As far as I’m concerned, in the immortal words of Charlie Sheen, “WINNING”! Gail Collins has taken up endless amounts of newspaper space and has never written anything that hasn’t been approved by 800-DIAL-LIBERAL. She’s a well-educated bore. And don’t get me started on her twin sister, the truly bad writer and thinker, Anna Quinlan.

And now at Free Republic we have all the nit-picking Dick Cavett-syntax-obsessed clones chiming in with their opinions. Bore, bore, bore.

it appears to me that the only people who understands the writings of the highly educated are a few other highly educated and it never comes to the point.

The most productive "intellectuals" only bother to write when they have a point and they strive to make their point as clearly as the point can be made because they have a point and want everyone to understand it. The problem is that 95% of the overeducated have no point, but if everyone understood that, society would depreciate or rather properly appraise their value, and that is the safe harbor that liberalism grants them.

-——Pissanticide! Brilliant! Can you offer a definition——

Pissanticide. active verb. To act in an overzealous manner supporting a single conservative candidate and repeatedly posting the campaign pitch ad infinitum until the entire forum is disgusted and you are finally zotted.

Perhaps there are others who might like to add to or sharpen this hurried Saturday morning thought.

It’s the ‘rats’ concerted strategy and the trolls here took their marching orders. When they can’t attack the message, focus on personal attributes. All they can come up with is “Trump is a terrible writer.”

He took Gail to the woodshed, Hussein Heads!

I totally agree with the plain speech theme. This link goes to what I consider a great example. Hank Williams has been described as having the ability to make everyday simple language sound like great poetry and I agree.

“The silence of a falling star
lights up a purple sky.”

If that sentence don’t get to you you just ain’t country. Those few words create a world of mental images for me.

I fail to see how this is a “horribly-written” letter.

I took a course on how to teach reading to adults. Newspapers are generally written at a 6th grade level, which is considered being functionally literate.

Trump’s letter, while not being up to the pseudo standards of the NY Times glitterati readership, must have caused quite a number of them to choke on their lattes and book emergency appointments with their life coaches.

Trump is a Patriot for bringing this into the MSM.

Tool # 1: Components of Adult Literacy

•Reading. “Functional literacy,” the level at which people have enough reading ability to function in their lives, is often set at fifth grade, but there are problems with this assumption. First, fifth grade level means something different for an adult than it does for a child, because the adult, with more experience and a larger vocabulary, may be able to get more out of a text at that reading level. Another issue is that much of our daily reading is, in fact, at higher levels: newspapers are written at sixth to eighth grade, for instance (except for the N.Y. Times, which is higher still), and car repair manuals for mechanics are often written at as much as twelfth grade level. Yet another question here is what “functional” means, if an adult reading at fifth grade level can’t help her tenth grade child with history or English homework. Thus, the level of reading that actually corresponds to “literate “ is still unresolved, although various grade levels have been suggested as the standard. (In fact, it is probably unrealistic to talk about grade levels at all when referring to adults.)

The point of effective writing is to get the point across to its intended audience. Your own evaluation suggests that Trump gets an A+.

I have a friend a few years older than I who was a member of the NYPD about fifty years ago. He has been in South Carolina for thirty or more years and has recently married for the fourth time and moved away so I don’t see him any more but he still sends me jokes and things by e-mail. He is amazingly blunt in speech, illogical at times, totally fearless, loyal to a fault and as honest as any person I have ever known. When the SHTF I want him with me.

“Trump has guts that you rarely see in politics.”

Trump is EXACTLY the right person to trumpet this as a stalking horse for Hillary.

He’s got more money than he needs, he’s extremely high profile in the media, he’s got nothing to hide in his past as it’s all out there in the media, and has been for years.

He doesn’t much care what the New York Elites think, or the Village Liberals, because THEY are the ones clamoring for invites to HIS fancy-dress parties, not the other way around.

He’s likely got the goods on any number of seedy deals in and around New York by Democrat Pols he’s supported in the past, so he’s got the goods on them, as well, and doesn’t fear much blowback.

And SOMEONE very high up is telling him he and his deals have nothing to fear from the Federal Government, too. That can only be the Clintonistas/DLC crowd.

And it’s driving the extreme leftists whacko that they have no leverage against him.
