MANILA (AFP) A blood-curdling scream echoes through the Roman Catholic chapel in Manila as Father Jose Francisco Syquia says a prayer of exorcism over a Satanic cult member believed to be possessed by the devil.
"It's very painful," the woman cries in an unearthly voice, her body contorting in an attempt to break free from the tight grasp of Syquia's assistants. After a few minutes she falls silent, her limp body exhausted.
The case is among hundreds documented on video and kept by Syquia, who heads the Manila Archdiocese's Office of Exorcism -- the only one that exists in the Catholic nation of 94 million people.

While non-believers often joke about the devil, and demonic possessions are trivialised by Hollywood, Syquia insisted the torment suffered by those he had healed was real.
I won't totally dismiss the concept, but this article didn't help convince me.
Maybe we can hire him to do the White House.
That movie got old in the 80’s
Most people never recognize or confront demons, so it is easy to dismiss them. Jesus sure believed in them. I surely do, because my own mother walked around with one or two the better part of her life. In her old age I brought her to live with me, the demon attacked me with super human strength and I too saw it in her eyes. It was chilling, but I had the armor of God and rebuked it in Jesus’ name and demanded it leave my mother. For the first time in years, I felt like I had my mother back. Demons seek out the vulnerable and those who invite them in.
Deeply religious people in that country!
The movie the Exorcist was based on a true story - but it was a boy in the midwest.
I have had a few visits myself.
God bless your courage an strength.
The boy’s aunt and him played with a Quija board. Folks best be careful about opening up the gates to the dark side.

A very drama addicted culture, too.
I understand.
Scott Peck who wrote “The Road less Traveled” also wrote about the existence of evil and excorism called “The People of the Lie.” It was very good.
I am thinking about the chain of being.
Animals are conscious of their world through senses, but are not self aware (not aware of their own consciousness).
Humans are able to be conscious of our own consciousness, making us self aware. Humans have direct access to their own mind, or can observe their own thoughts, but can only infer what is going on in another person's mind.
Demons and angels are self aware, conscious of their own mind AND are able to have direct access to the consciousness of other beings. See CS Lewis' Screwtape Letters.
God has direct access to the conscious of all minds in all universes (and perhaps all alternative multi-verses). Prayer is permitting God's mind to enter ours and transform it, raising it to a higher level -- sort of like we do with pets when we humanize them. By interacting with dogs or cats, we raise them a little bit to our level of awareness. Talking to God gives us his perspective.
Keep on the armor of God.
Hard to understand how someone could be fascinated by the paranormal but not believe in possessions.
I didn’t say, but that’s what happened to my Mom. Quija board. Very bad news because it does invite the demons in. It’s the perfect opening for them.
The Scripture says they are the fallen angels that satan took with him when he was kicked out of heaven.
I suspect that is it. Our immortal soul may also be a component of our physical existence which resides in another dimension. Similarly, I also suspect this existence in dimensions other than our own points to a physical explanation of the trinity.
