Remember, this is supposedly one of the “good guy” regimes in the Middle East. There isn’t a single one of these muslim countries that wouldn’t send the western world crashing into hell if it weren’t for their abject fear of being overthrown by their own people. They need America and Britain to protect them, but they do not hesitate to spit on western culture. Just try to kneel down and pray publicly in ANY islamic state and you’ll get the same treatment that this poor sod received.
don’t forget that the UAE was one of only 3 countries that recognised the Taliban regime in Afghanistan and sent weapons. The other two were our other “allies”: Pakistan and Saudiarabia
This is true of many countries that western tourists like to go to, not just the predominantly muslim ones. Tourists don't stay long, do not know the language, and don't understand the locals. Tourists do not learn how seethingly anti-american and anti-west they are. They go home and tell everyone they had a great time in Dubai, or Thailand or wherever, and get cracking planning their next vacation to an anti-american wonderland. They are oblivious that they are handing over loads of cash to people who spit on them.
