A sheriff's deputy shot a bull terrier puppy to death when the dog rushed out of a front door and barked during a probation search on Thursday in Boulder Creek, authorities said.
About 11:30 a.m. in the 200 block of Anchor Court, two deputies knocked on the door of 48-year-old Lonni Locatelli, who was on probation for a meth-related conviction, said Sgt. Dan Campos. Loud knocking alerted Locatelli's two dogs, a 12-pound, 5-month-old female bull terrier named Sheeba and a 2-year-old pit bull mix, Locatelli said.
The dogs barked. Locatelli was in the shower, and he heard the knocking and barking and answered the door.
As he opened the door, the dogs ran to a waist-high retaining wall above the walkway, Locatelli said. One of the deputies reached for his pepper spray and fired it at Sheeba, said Sgt. Dan Campos.
The deputy then pulled out a gun and shot the dog once, Campos said. The deputy prepared to shoot the other dog, but his partner told him to stop, Locatelli said.
"She was just barking, she never hurt anybody," Locatelli said. "I couldn't even believe it."

I’m sorry for the death of that puppy, but you’ve got to admit that they are sort of scary looking if you’ve never seen one before. That’s no excuse for shooting her, however.
My husband used to be on the city Plan Commission and would receive a packet of materials weekly to study before each meeting — delivered by a cop. Those cops were all afraid of my sweet Golden Retriever. I used to joke that they were just afraid that she might rub against their navy blue pants and leave a cloud full of golden fur, but I think that they are just wary of all dogs.

Awwwww....
All puppies are cute, some just cuter than others.
The average housewife has more brains than the average cop. I didn't used to believe that, then I moved to Tulsa.
I think I might know Locatelli, having gone to SLVH and Jr High.
I recall a cute girl by the name of Locatelli and maybe he’s her brother?
This story stinks on several levels.
First, no 5 month old puppy is a danger to anyone and it is very easy to tell a puppy from an adult dog regardless of the breed.
Second, no 12 lb. dog is a danger to anyone. Even if he bites, it is not a life threatening matter.
Third, what 12 lb. puppy can get over a waist high wall?
Lastly and most important, it was not an emergency visit. Had it been a raid, a call to a victim of violence, maybe it might have been excusable.
But a probation call is something akin to “How are you doing? Have you been a nice boy” and that is not hardly an emergency. Only if the person on probation becomes violent.
The fact that they let him take the dog and leave tells you that he is not considered a threat.
The deputy should be fired and made a public example out of in order to get the attention of the area LEOs.
Smiles, now see, I always thought that they fell into the, “so ugly, they are cute” category ; ) That was probably furthered by this favorite of our kids - http://i.ebayimg.com/00/$(KGrHqEOKkUE1pFpDe0FBNjh8IPqiQ~~0_12.JPG
I also wondered about WHERE the dog was, since the article made it sound as if the dog was actually behind a waist high wall?! Maybe there was a half walled patio area adjacent to the front door and the dog came out there?
And when I really thought about it, I remembered that they are the dogs in SO many of the Target ads, as well as a beer company, so I cannot imagine that the officer had never seen one : o
Funny, but very sad about all of the officers being afraid of your sweetie. Somehow it makes me a little uncomfortable to think of any LEO being afraid of an average family dog, because after all, these are the folks that we depend upon to be able to recognize true evil.... So-o-o-o, if the guy with the gun cannot tell the difference, then we darn sure are all in jeopardy, canine and human alike : /
Take care and may God bless.

P.S. Thank you for posting the pic to the thread! I never have gotten the hang of posting pics - sheepish look : \
“If everybody acted like these a-holes nobody would have a dog in their house. Theyd all be dead. Are cops psychos? What the hell is the matter with them?”
Do you think a police force that can be indoctrinated to shoot puppies would have any trouble being indoctrinated to shoot citizens that resist the coming leftist social order?
“Where are they learning this?”
The old mantra was “To protect and serve”, the new mantra is “go home without a scratch no matter who you have to kill to do it”. Cops now see normal dog behavior (barking at strangers and being protective of their territory) as an unacceptable risk.

An excellent question, and one that bears repeating, Sir.
2)Highlilght "properties".
3)While highlighted, click "ctrl" and "c" (copy) at the same time. This puts the source code on your clip board.
4)Then go to your reply box. Click to put the cursor in your empty box. Then click "ctrl" and "v" (paste) at the same time. This should paste the properties source code in your reply box.
It should look like this:
http://i.ebayimg.com/00/$(KGrHqEOKkUE1pFpDe0FBNjh8IPqiQ~~0_12.JPG
5) Now, go to the front of the line of source code that you just pasted and place these figures there without any spaces between letters, except 1 space between img and src. < img src="
I put a space there between the < and the img just so you can read it on this screen. Otherwise, the phrase disappears when I do it the right way. You need to leave the first space out in real life! The phrase should have only one space -- between the img and the src.
5) Go to the end of the property source code and type, without any spaces ">
It should look like this (and I'm adding a space where it shouldn't be so you can read it -- remember to leave out the space in real life.):

Most image source codes will have jpg or gif in them somewhere. Some are blocked and you can't post the picture, but most will work for you.
Then click "preview" and your picture should show. If not, you have a space where it shouldn't be, or you didn't pick up all of the code. Try again until you get it. Posting pictures is fun.
How much longer before reports of conservative patriots being shot by police are as common as reports of dogs being shot by police?
“She had a concealed carry permit. We felt threatened.”
“He quoted the constitution to us. We felt threatened.”
It’s past time for payback.
Wrong. The only way to stop this is some old school eye for an eye justice. When the cops start losing their family pets, they'll start to reconsider.
Serial killers and cops both like to kill animals. Go figure.

“Simple possession” with no intent to distribute (which is based on whatever quantity was involved) is a misdemeanor. A first offense would likely result in probation which is what the guy was subject to. Does the story say that once they shot the dog and gained entrance to his house they found any drugs or other contraband? Or was it just a fun shooting for them?
We have 4 dogs and they are all very dear to us. I have [security dog] signs outside to ward off burglars. The signs are a bald faced lie! I worry if we had any kind of emergency that would bring the police.
The only danger a stranger would be in is if they had a sandwich in their pocket. Of course they might get licked to death.
