Wheego to deliver first electric car on Earth Day

The first owners of a Wheego LiFe will be Asma and Kevin Henry, residents of the Virginia Highland neighborhood in Atlanta.

Kevin says buying a Wheego LiFe was his wife’s idea. Asma, a freelance consultant in international assistance programs, is committed to protecting the environment and reducing fossil fuel consumption. She walks and bikes to neighborhood shops, prefers fresh air to conditioned air, and dries laundry in the back garden. She has more than a casual interest in zero-emission vehicles and clean air because she helps manage the charity Speranta Terrei, which supports patients in Moldova with the air-borne disease tuberculosis. Asma said, “We as individuals have to do our part so we can all breathe easier.”

My Tahoe gets 15mpg in town and 20mpg on the highway.. . . Somewhere there is a picture of one of these things crushed in between 2 big trucks on a city street.

I'm with you on this. My pickup gets at least 17 - 18 during normal driving and 20 on road trips. I don't want to end up like this. I bet the truck drivers didn't feel a thing.

The Wheego Whip can be driven on roads with posted speeds of 35 mph or less. You’d have to be an idiot to buy this.

From what I can tell, 1966 was the last year of the 6 volts with 12 volt coming in 1967 and the new sealed beam head lamps.

The best part of these things were the suspension. Torsion bars in the back and torsion leaves in the front. Incredibly durable on and off road.

They were great little cars to play around with and sipped gas. I’d like to have one now in a “Baja” kit for running around town.

Thanks for the link. Wish (not that I could buy it) the 1943 VW Schwimmwagen wasn’t sold; I’d have loved to see the price tag. In any case, way too much money to ever use it as intended!

Ach! At the very end of the photo page for it: $150,000! Beautiful, but I’m not Jay Leno or Harrahs!

That's got to be some kind of record for the most libtard cliches in a description of a person.

Thanks for the link to that VW sales page. They seem pricey at first, but when you compare them to what you can buy new for the same price, not so bad.

I especially liked that royal blue notchback, if I only had the garage space..

I've owned three two-seat roadsters in my life, an early '90's Corvette, a Honda 2000 and a cute robin's egg blue Karmann Ghia. Guess which one was the best girl magnet??

And to think the last bug I bought in the early 80’s I got for $30. LOL
