Nearly half of usual Republican primary voters in Iowa think President Obama was not born in the United States, while barely one-quarter believe he was, according to a PPP poll released on Tuesday.
In the poll, 48% of registered Republican voters said Obama was not born in the U.S., while 26% said he was. Additionally, 26% said they were unsure.

Thank you, Donald Trump! Not anybody else, just Donald.
"When I move into the White House my attorney general will initiate a thorough and complete investigation in order to be fair to not only the American people but also to President Obama who rightfully deserves to be acknowledged as a legitimate former President. It is also important to clarify to the American people that Barack Obama was indeed eligible and was the legitimate President of these United States.
However, if by some chance the accusations turn out to be correct, there is a promise to the American people that anybody in Congress whether they be republican or democrat will be legally held accountable and justice will be served for any wrong doing and illegal activity. Let that be a warning to the leaders of Congress who have taken the oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America."
The sooner this is done the quicler Donald Trump will fall in the polls. I suspect he will be holding onto whatever he learns about obama's BC for an October surprise.
It is racist to hold partially-black people to any standard of any kind.
I don’t know if he was or not. I just want to see the documentation per the Constitution. I am just upholding the law of the land.
I saw an NBC interview with The Donald and the interviewer mentioned that Karl Rove said that Trump has joined the ‘nutty right’ since he’s a confirmed birther.
I wonder what Rove-boy has to say about this 48%.
If you really want to see a candidate like Sarah Palin suck the air out of Trump’s balloon she or another candidate should make a statement such as: ........ “ =============
Right now, in this moment of time the “other candidates” so to speak can’t even touch the Trump balloon— can’t even get their hands around it. Trump will be letting the air out of his own balloon before long, but meanwhile throwing stones at him for hitting obvious homeruns for all the world to see seems worse than self defeating. He’s out there blasting a way while they are (every one of them) missing the target, too busy stumping for money, working over each other, or focusing on their own polling.
If it weren’t for Trump out there firing away, there would be crickets from the lack of push back by our “line up”.
Actually, its 48% that are sure Obama was born out of the U.S. and 26% that don’t know and are waiting for more evidence, and that means 74% of the republicans are birthers. Yes indeed, ignore THAT at your own peril Tokyo and all the fool conservative pundits and talk show hosts that think birthers are nuts.
Meanwhile Rove is babbling ...move along. Nothing to see here.
Urban Dictionary: SPINELESS
A wimp. A person without a spine. Someone who has others do the dirty work for them. Someone who backs down from confrontation or sneaks around and has others do the job for them.

The problem with your warning is that you are totally focused on winning a Republican primary while completely ignoring winning the general election.
It does not really matter if 100% of Republicans swear on a stack of Bibles that Obama was born in Kenya. Republicans make up only a small minority of all voters.
What do Independents, who outnumber both Democrats and Republicans, think?
SIXTY NINE PERCENT OF INDEPENDENTS do NOT buy the "Born in Kenya" dogma that you put forth as the Political Purity Test for Republican candidates.
There is a HUGE difference between "Where's the birth certificate" and a dogmatic insistence that "Obama was born in Kenya".
It it beyond dispute that Obama is hiding his birth certificate. Not even the most liberal journalist can deny that and nobody can be ridiculed for claiming that. More importantly, the American voter can easily embrace that fact.
It is extremely easy to paint the enablers of Obama's deceit .... for whatever reason Obama wants to deceive .... as "HIDERS" .
The problem with the so-called "Birther" issue is that the "Born in Kenya" theory puts all it's eggs into one, single theory in regards to WHY Obama is hiding the birth certificate and that just happens to be a theory that 75% of American voters simply do not buy and consider "tinfoil hat" stuff.
Hypothetical example:
Candidate John Edwards was caught secretly sending money to a woman. Why?
"She is a KGB agent like Ana Chapman and he is funding a KGB spy ring to help his KGB masters. John Edwards is guilty of treason and America needs to know."
Four months later: "Seventy five percent of America is not buying the KGB theory and the liberal press is having a field day ridiculing us. Could there be another reason for the behavior?"
"NO! The woman is a KGB agent."
"Maybe she is his mistress and he is paying her off?"
"NO! SHE IS A KGB AGENT!"
"She recently gave birth. Maybe John Edwards is paying her because that is his illegitimate child."
"NO! NO! NO! SHE IS A KGB AGENT AND HE IS A TRAITOR!"
"Look, 75% of the American voters simply do not buy the KGB theory."
"KGB! KGB! KGB! TRAITOR! TRAITOR! TRAITOR!"
That's not the way to win an election, folks.
The discussion get turned 180 degrees by the liberal media from "John Edwards is a slimebag" to "John Edward's opponents are a bunch of tinfoil hat kooks" and 75% of all American voters ignore the slimebag and focus on the tinfoil hats.
Our goal should be to ensure that Obama is NOT reelected in 2012. That goal will be hurt by trying to cram the "Born in Kenya: theory down the throats of the 75% of all voters that want no part of it.
In my opinion, the "Born in Kenya" theory has more holes in it than a Swiss cheese factory. More importantly, 75% of all American voters simply ain't gonna buy it and beating them over the head with it only helps Obama paint the oppositions as obsessed kooks.
In my opinion, what is Obama hiding?
1.) That his birth was officially registered as "illegitimate" and his mother was listed as "Single". (Obama, Sr. was already married and polygamy is illegal in the U.S. Nobody has ever seen the marriage license or divorce decree of Obama, Sr. and Staley Ann Dunham.)
2.) That Obama, as an illegitimate child, was born with the name of Barry Dunham. Obama is therefore hiding a "white" surname given at birth that blows the entire "Dreams of my Father" hype out of the water.
Is that highly embarrassing?
You betcha.
What have Obama's lawyers specifically argued in Court when they have defended Obama's legal right to keep the documents hidden?
They have argued that the release would be "embarrassing" and the Courts have agreed.
Does Obama have an iron-clad legal right to refuse to release "embarrasing" information?
Yes.
Does Obama have an iron-clad legal right to cover up an illegal act such as ineligibility for the office of POTUS?
No.
Thus the Court have dismissed arguments that Obama is ineligible for office but, at the same time, have told America that it has no more right to see his birth certificate than America has a right to see your medical record.
Switching the debate from "Birther" to "HIDERS", is a winning strategy.
It switches the debate 180 degrees from "tinfoil hat kooks" to "What are you hiding and why are you hiding it?"
The continued insistence on forcing the cod liver oil of the "Born in Kenya" theory down the unwilling throats of 75% of all voters will bring nothing more than continued ridicule which does absolutely nothing but help Obama get reelected.
Let’s quit with the birth certificate already. I think the WH is purposely keeping this issue alive because it is nothing more than a distraction. We should be nailing Zero on Obamacare, the looming economic distruction of the United States, and his Marxist and radical associations.
Standard Republican talking point now concerning anything moral or constitutional.
Hopefully Trump will just keep spreading the word.
Every elected official’s primary sworn duty is to protect and defend the Constitution, in all its provisions.
What, pray tell, could be so important as to make their primary duty a “distraction”?
New tagline...
Thanks for the post. I have less and less patience with this issue. It is being kept alive by the opposition for exactly the purposes you mentioned in your post. As soon as I hear Savage and some other talk show hosts start ranting about this, I switch stations. We are being played like suckers on this issue, and “the Donald” is just the latest dolt to take the bait.
Here’s the big question: Why doesn’t Obama just show his original birth certificate and get it over with?
Not only does that question not get discussed, it never even gets asked. On any TV or radio show, when the BC subject comes up; listen the next time. Everyone dances around this simple question.
Which brings us to the BIGGER question: Why doesn’t anyone ask or discuss the biq question?
