Donald Trump presidential run a stunt? NBC exec believes the reality star is bluffing for rating

Think Donald Trump's proposed presidential run is nothing more than a stunt?

So does NBC, home of the real estate mogul's hit show "Celebrity Apprentice."

An executive at the network told Entertainment Weekly on Tuesday that no one is falling for Trump's much-rumored 2012 campaign.

"We at the network have no idea whether Trump is serious about [running for president] or not," the executive, who asked to remain anonymous, told EW. "He won't tell even us - and we haven't pushed because we've just decided it is whatever it is. If he wants to spout off about things, we're happy to let him. But our inclination is that he's not serious about running for president. We think it's a stunt."

Trump has refused to say whether he will actually throw his hat into the ring as a Republican candidate next year, but his repeated hints about a possible campaign catapulted him into the lead in a recent poll of GOP primary candidates. The billionaire is expected to announce on the May 22 season finale of "Apprentice" the specific date when he will finally reveal whether or not he is running for office.

Television insiders believe Trump continues to fuel rumors of his presidential run to drive up ratings of his reality show.

Ratings for "Apprentice" are up as much as 20% this season, according to EW, and the show has nearly doubled its numbers from last season, now averaging almost 8 millions viewers an episode.

Trump was already happy with ratings. Try again.

As everything looks like a nail to a hammer, what does everything look like to an anonymous television executive?

Indeed.

The Halfrican has been bluffing for about 30 years.

It’s time he gets called on it.

Dandy Don looks like he has the makings of a good poker player to me.

The money quote right here,

“Ratings for “Apprentice” are up as much as 20% this season, according to EW, and the show has nearly doubled its numbers from last season, now averaging almost 8 millions viewers an episode.”

I believe it was also up for renewal this year.

Exactly-—that executive, if he even EXISTS, is some ratings-obsessed media hack who can’t possibly see outside his own little TV cocoon.

Trump is at a stage of life and accomplishment where piling up more money and TV ratings is pretty much old hat.

But jumping into politics and slapping Hussein around and then taking on the Chicoms and the A-rab oilers-—now THAT would be quite a cap on a long career that has had plenty of ups and downs already but none of the magnitude that comes with going for the presidency.

You mean they’ve concluded that he is not really eligible to be prez?

Or merely that he sucks at it?

“I believe it was also up for renewal this year.”

It is but DT has told the network that he will not make a decision about TV until he decides one way or the other about politics.

God bless him that he is only “balding.”

I’d trade places with him anytime.

You know what?

Rush knows Trump and golfs with him and he seems to have a pile of questions for him. He knows DT has been mainly a populist in the past but acknowledges that people can change.

I’m going to leave the analysis up to the “Maharushi.”

He is “Mr. Conservative” after all and he has personal contact.

I’ll go with Rush’s determination.

They all know he’s hiding something. I was at a teacher party last Saturday. They all know. Not one of them tried to defend him - not on the BC issue or on any other.

Trump’s view that a right to privacy is essential for all conservatives.

Trump is right about this.

But how could he be so dumb as to be unaware to the pro-life blogs reaction?

He says as much, from what I’ve seen, in his speeches. He also has children still talking to him, so we can hesitantly posit that he cares about them and their future here in this country as a possible motivation for wanting America to be the same kind of place to do well economically that he grew up in.

I don’t know that Trump really wants to be president. Think of the paycut he’d have to take for four years.
But he knows Owebama is very bad for business and wants him out of office asap.
So he is “running” and saying the things that need to be said that nobody else has the courage to say.
He will stop “running” when he has done the damage necessary to prevent Owebama’s re-election.
