Two-time GOP presidential candidate and longtime political analyst Pat Buchanan says Barack Obama should just show his birth certificate to put an end to questions over his eligibility to occupy the Oval Office.
His comments came in an interview on MSNBC, where he serves as a political analyst:
Buchanan said he agrees with Mitt Romney in that he believes Obama was born in Hawaii, and the newspapers probably were accurate in reporting his birth there in 1961.
However, he said, "I do agree with Donald Trump when he said, 'Why is Barack Obama toying with the American people? Why doesn't he just produce this and end this controversy.'"
Said Buchanan, a founder and editor of The American Conservative and columnist for WND, "I think it shows a real arrogance of power."

That would not end the “two citizen parents/natural born citizen” issue.
But if the majority sentiment becomes 'why not just show the evidence and be done with it' his advisors may end up having been too clever by half.
Only a few fringies think that is an "issue." The main precedent is Vice President Arthur, who had an Irish born father, and nobody at time cared where he was or was not a British subject. Heck, not even Donald will touch that one.
Interesting points.
Should FR begin the “meme” of equating Obamugabe’s LF/BC with “The Blue Dress”?
To wit: “Is Obama’s Birth Certificate his stained blue dress?”
Makes for interesting copy and an angle that Drudge may be more apt to pick-up on, eh?
The Supreme Court, the Electoral College, the Congress...cowards all.
C’mon Pat - You know that when your opponents are beating the crap out of each other over this issue, you wouldn’t end it but sit back and eat popcorn.
The fact that he was adopted by an Indonesian and given Indonesian citizenship is all the proof we should need that he is not eligible to be president. Where he was born, if he can prove he was born in the US, will give the left ammo against us. Why no one mentions his Indonesian Citizenship is beyond me. You have to be a natural born US citizen, not a dual citizen.
All that you say is true. However technically we really do not know that Obama sr is even his father.
You really first need original evidence to start the legal analysis and right now there is no original documents from which to start. It was planned that way.
True. I honestly think he’s an identity thief and Nancy knows it.
His Indonesian citizenship, if he was adopted, is irrelevant. NBC is a status achieved at birth. Not before, not after, but AT birth. Unless Obama himeslef (not his parents on his behalf) renounced his citizenship to U.S. officials, he retains whatever U.S. citizenship he had AT birth.
The SCOTUS resolved this issue with their decision in Perkins v. Elg.
Americans will forgive alot as long as the economy is healthy. Now that we're sucking wind they may now be in a mood to take political scalps for any available reason.
I don’t know why Donald can’t make emotional appeal, that a highly decorated, dedicated soldier is serving time in Leavenworth because of his refusal to release his long form birth certificate. That President Obama rather see a soldier serve prison time than release his birth certificate.
"Only a few fringies think that is an "issue." The main precedent is Vice President Arthur, who had an Irish born father, and nobody at time cared where he was or was not a British subject. Heck, not even Donald will touch that one."
There is no evidence that anyone even knew about Arthur's father at the time. If you have evidence, produce it.
The Constitution of the United States of America is clear that natural born citizen is more than just being a born citizen. Why else did the Founding Fathers reject Alexander Hamilton's original Article II qualification for the presidency of "being a born Citizen" in favor of John Jay's stricter "natural born Citizen" requirement?
[Should FR begin the meme of equating Obamugabes LF/BC with The Blue Dress?]
Better yet, how about compare to Watergate, where te coverup is worse than the crime? I think that’s where this should head.
“Vice President Arthur, who had an Irish born father, and nobody at time cared where he was or was not a British subject”
Correct me if I am wrong but from what little I know about this, people did care and did investigate. It was a different world back in the 1880’s, no internet or cable. If news spread like today maybe it would have been a big deal. I talk to people today who have no idea or thoughts about Obama birth issues and it has been in the news for the last couple of weeks.
” Why no one mentions his Indonesian Citizenship is beyond me. You have to be a natural born US citizen, not a dual citizen.”
Because even though it’s not written anywhere, it’s common sense that any dual citizenship conferred upon you involuntarily is not something that can be held against you. If the actions of your parents or another land while you do nothing yourself give you a dual citizenship, it doesn’t count against your loyalty to the USA.
Otherwise some people could never be eligible be UAE some countries will grant American citizens citizenship of their countries because their parents are from there, or even their grandparents.
In terms of running for president, bolivia could have granted George bush citizenship of Bolivia during the campaign and made him ineligible to run. That would be silly.
So common sense as well as the laws that now exist for stripping people of their USA citizenships focus on what the person has actively done as an adult. This is why his childhood dual citizenship doesn’t matter. His mother did it, it doesn’t reflect on him legally. But if he renewed his Indonesian passport as an adult, like we think he did, and traveled under it to pockeestahn, as we think he did, that is different, and should make him if not ineligible at least very disloyal to the USA and thus very unattractive to voters as our leader.
As I understand it, there is no evidence that suggests he renounced that Indonesian citizenship. So, as far as I know, he’s still an Indonesian citizen sitting in the office of the president.
I was born in an Army hospital in Germany. I had dual citizenship until I was 18. I was interested in politics from a young age and had planned to run for President. I couldn’t because I was 1) not born on US soil and 2) had dual citizenship. I have had to prove my citizenship time and time again throughout my adult life. Pisses me off that this jerk is getting away with something like this. I’m more of an American Citizen then Obama (or what ever his name is) will ever be.
If he can do it - so can I. I’m going to start my presidential campaign. I’ll refuse to show my papers and just say “trust me”. I’ll also admit to inhaling and...some other things. I’ll back out when Sarah Palin enters the race and become her running mate. I’ll run on a platform of - HOPE we can CHANGE it back before it’s too late.
