Earth Day instead of Easter?

Earth Day instead of Easter? 16 mins ago

Some Catholics are concerned with what they see as an attempt by environmentalists to hijack Easter for their own Earth Day purposes.

In a letter dated April 1 to churches across the country, the environmentalist group Earth Day Network encourages priests to remember Earth Day Sunday, even though Easter is that same Sunday.

“This year we again invite you to celebrate Earth Day Sunday and share with your parishioners a story of creation care that will impart to them the importance of protecting a nurturing the planet that was provided to us,” the letter reads. “Earth Day Sunday is a great way to bring your parish together through community building and sharing the faith with those in the community while improving the world around us.”

The letter does add that if priests want to celebrate Easter instead, they could consider delivering a climate change sermon on the following Sunday. Michael Voris of REAL Catholic TV, however, is not buying it, calling the campaign a push for a “pagan takeover of Easter”

“Earth Day 2011 falls on Friday, April 22, which is Good Friday so on the following Sunday, which is two days later, the Earth Day Network wants Catholic priests all over the country to devote their homily to Earth Day. Slight problem, the next Sunday, the one after Good Friday, is Easter,” Voris said. “Imagine going to mass to hear about the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead only to be told to go clean up a park.”

Knowing my Pastor as I do. I believe he might save an un-shredded piece of this letter for me to burn.

That saddest part is that some churches will actually do that.

If we are to be honest we replaced easter with it’s current Christian meaning from a pagan festival. So the pagans of today are trying to steal it back.

Earth Day was established to celebrate the birthday of Lenin. It began on 22 April 1970 to celebrate his 100th birthday.

according to the enviroweenies, there is no God; however, there is a Godess, and her name is Gaia.

This gal, Gaia, is an angry and bitter old broad, who demands reparations and insists animals and plants are given preference over human life.

On the other hand, Our Father who art in Heaven set Man above animals and plants, in fact, created those things and those things within the seas to specifically to sustain us and He also gave us it’s treasures and minerals for us to husband and enjoy, no reparations required.

I’ll take Jesus and my God, thanks all the same, Gaia old girl.

That has always been the purpose behind earth day. Almost everything the leftists celebrate is designed to try and diminish Christianity.

I don't know many congregations that confuse Spring/Easter festivities (eggs/bunnies/Mayday etc) with the actual historical events of Palm Sunday thru the Miracle of the Ascension.

Yep, and here’s how God feels about the celebration of Easter.

I Kings 11:4 For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father. 5 For Solomon went after Ashtoreth ( the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites. 6 And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as did David his father.

In Jeremiah 7:17-20 you can read what God thinks of people worshiping the "queen of heaven." In verse 20 God said that His anger and fury shall be poured out upon man, beast, trees of the field and the fruit of the ground. God goes on to say in verse 20 that "it shall burn, and shall not be quenched." All this for worshiping Ashtoreth which is the Old Testament name for Eastre which is where the word easter comes from. What God is telling us here is that people who know that easter is a pagan festival are not going to receive His blessings if they take part in it. What about going to an easter sunrise service? In Ezekiel 8:15-18 we are told that God thinks that is an abomination. Worshipping the sun is a form of idolatry.

The celebration of the Babylonian "Easter" is obliquely referenced in Ezekiel 8:14, where women are "weeping for Tammuz" which is a reference to the 40 day period of "mourning" which precedes the Babylonian feast of Easter. It was bishop Victor of Rome in the 2nd Century that ignited the Quartodecimian Controversy by threatening churches in Asia who still were celebrating the resurrection in conjunction with Passover on 14 Nisan. It was still at issue in 325 and 365 CE at the Nicean and Laodicean councils where celebration of Passover in conjunction with the resurrection was made "heretical" by the "church's" anti-Semitic decree.

Let the pagans have it. God doesn’t smile down on people who celebrate Easter.

This is not just a Catholic thing. All Christians of all denominations should be concerned when Earth Day will get more attention than Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

Earth Day is also V. I. Lenin’s birthday. Further proof about the watermelons.

God doesn’t smile down on people who celebrate Easter.

Maybe not your Muslim god, But the Father, whose Son arose from the dead on the third day, is smiling ear to ear.

Muslim God? Do you not believe what God said in scripture? Are you so ignorant of what God says about adopting pagan festivals? Study up a little on Nimrod, his wife Semiramis and her bastard son Tamuz. Follow the truth about where Easter started and learn.
