On Bret Baier FOX News show yesterday Charles Krauthammer revealed that Donald Trump had called him personally and as a result of their conversation Krauthammer is convinced Trump is "absolutely" running for president.
It was a surprise, and when my secretary told me, I put on a helmet and a flak jacket as I answered the phone. I expected a tirade, which he had every right to do given what I have been saying about him. In fact, he was courteous but very calm, and he made his case, rather than sort of attacking everything I said about him. Simply, he made his case: Im a serious businessman, Im a serious candidate"...I give him credit for the way he conducted himself [on the phone call].
Krauthammer has been a very vocal critic of Trump's intentions. But more importantly Krauthammer is generally unafraid to be a vocal skeptic and critic of many members of his party (he's had not nice things to say about Sarah Palin in the past) and isn't afraid to give Obama credit for very unpopular moves. So his validation of Trump's intentions were immediately carried far and wide in the blogosphere yesterday as some sort of proof it was okay to take Trump intentions seriously.
That's not to say Krauthammer takes Trump seriously. In his column today calls him a "spectacle" and says the "Lions have a better chance at winning the Super Bowl."

The Lions will be a playoff team this year. Guarantee it.
Krauthammer jumped the shark some time ago. His opposition to Trump makes me like Trump more.
If Trump does decide to run, he'll be the first liberal Republican to announce for 2012. But not the last.
What’s up with Willard?
I don’t trust Kruathammer either.
I think whoever the republicans runs wins in 2012. I think EVERYONE underestimates the raw anger there is at bummer. It’s WAY more than against Bush, which was manufactured. This is GENUINELY grass roots.
Unless there’s a perfect 3rd party spoiler like Trump.
Trump said he would NOT run as an independent if it could remotely come close to allowing Obama to win.
If Trump would say that Hillary Clinton is not the best thing since sliced bread and is not a true moderate and admit Hillary would not be good for this country and is a failure as Obama’s SOS; he has my vote unless West jumps in for the big save we need.
i care more about keeping the strong hold on the house and gaining the senate than winning the pres.
imo Trump would do some necessary things. Borders and taxes being two.
Trump says he’s pro-life - the big deal for me - along with his vehement pro-America position.
And we’d have a first lady who didn’t look like a moose next to Carla Bruni.
I start backing away from Trump for his many skeletons and less-than-conservative stances in the past...but I watch or listen to him on TV and suddenly he pulls me in again.
Trump/West with Palin making history as energy sec saving our economy and national security. Bachmann as AG
It is fascinating to watch many conservative who fought so hard against Obamacare suddenly support a candidate who believes in even MORE government control of healthcare. Obama's healthcare reform was kids stuff compared to the socialist system Trump envisions:
The goal of health care reform, wrote Trump, should be a system that looks a lot like Canada. "Doctors might be paid less than they are now, as is the case in Canada, but they would be able to treat more patients because of the reduction in their paperwork," he writes.
The Canadian plan also helps Canadians live longer and healthier than Americans. There are fewer medical lawsuits, less loss of labor to sickness, and lower costs to companies paying for the medical care of their employees. If the program were in place in Massachusetts in 1999 it would have reduced administrative costs by $2.5 million. We need, as a nation, to reexamine the single-payer plan, as many individual states are doing.
So now supposed conservatives here are supporting a guy who believes in Canadian style single payer health care?
From Trump's book, "The America We Deserve, pages 31-32:
"I support a womans right to choose ..."
(I believe it is a personal decision that should be left to the women and their doctors" Link)
No thanks.
I propose it will be a miracle if the FR favorite wins the Republican primary nonetheless the election. How many here will remember that Duncan Hunter led the FR poll by 90+% up until the day he dropped out of the 2008 primary.
I have posted this very "dream team" on more than one occasions. I think the public could go for Palin as energy sec, but after Obama, I don't think they can look past the "inexperience" of Palin or the fact she is a female. Not that I am opposed to a female president, but I am not so sure an inexperienced female is a risk America is going to go for. Not saying Palin is not good enough, just saying we have an inexperienced PANSY now, and more and more, people are realizing we need a smart economic mind with "balls".
I said this the other day...and was shot down.
..and sadly, the Lions have less fans here than the Trump even though the former doesn’t have a history of rabid liberalism.
Unfortunately, there won't be a "this year."
