more and more amazing security videos inside of Lambert Airport are now being released. KMOV.com is showing them now on TV, they should be on their website soon.
I literally HATE that the liberals have turned the weather channel into this dirtworshiping globalists ‘greenies’, who cannot look at a literal map and give proper locations.
O’Fallon, actually. The tornado first touched down around New Melle, which is just to the west of the Busch Wildlife area. And the sky was a yellowish-green color.
New Years eve was the last time we retreated to the basement under a warning. Must be something about the holidays.
Wow. Those could cause some severe damage to everything. Imagine on one’s head.
When the threats are immanent I use the weather radio on my scanner. Accurate and portable.
As do I when in my particular area... BUT it was this thread that caught my attention last night there was severe weather in this state... so I turned on the weather channel, and all they focused in on was Lambert... and NORTHWEST of St. Louis proper.
I get a phone call message today, saying well how are your relatives, because of a FACEBOOK posting regarding damage... so I am caught feeling like wait a minute Maryland Heights in my mind is not NORTHWEST of St. Louis... Anyway good to hear you made it through the whirlwind last night.
I lived in STL all my life and Maryland Heights was always considered Northwest. Bridgeton & St. Ann are also in the Northwest area. Do you recall Northwest Plaza on the edge of St. Ann & Brigeton.
Hazelwood, Florissant, etc is North County
I have never lived in St. Louis or near it. But have been there and driven through the city too many times to count. Depending on the time of day and 'road' work dictates which interstate I select to get through the city. I do consider Florissant to be northwest, but never considered Maryland Heights to be northwest... due west but not northwest... as I literally leave the interstate to go north to get to Florissant but in my driving mind I stay very close to the interstate to go to Maryland Heights...
here you go...

#4 is northwest county (from about Olive St Rd or Ladue Rd and then north of those) - you will see I-70 running through the middle of Northwest County and over into St. Charles County (#9)
Hwy 40 runs through the heart of Mid County (#3).
mississippi river in memphis now forecast to have 3rd highest crest on record and highest since 1937
NWS says it may go even higher
Actually this map is not fully correct. Northwest County actually goes over to the Missouri River before it becomes St. Charles County on the other side of the Missouri River. The map has part of Northwest County as St. Charles County.
You can kinda see Maryland Heights on the map and they have in the purple #9 zone (St. Charles County) and we all know that Maryland Heights is east of the Missouri River.
Thanks for the ping, nutmeg. I was horrified by the pics from St. Louis I saw on TV this morning. At first, I thought it was Sendai, Japan. It's a very, very stormy year this year. My friend says still snowing up in WA. We've have lots of storms in SoCal, maybe 2-3 times normal. There was South Carolina and now St. Louie, not to mention all the blizzards up your way...
Thank you for the map. I will have to teach myself to think differently of where Maryland Heights is literally located...
btt
At the 0:53 mark on this video - it shows video from someone on I-70 @ the airport taking video of the massive tornado. Some cars are stopped on the highway.
