And they sing in honor of Barack Obama.
God knows what they are taught in history class nowadays. Probably they are taught that America is racist, sexist, homophobic, Islamophobic, bigoted, despoiler of the environment, and all the way down the list of liberal crimes against humanity.
Even those liberals who praise America as having been a force for good in the world, still can’t bring themselves to praise American exceptionalism. Even those liberals who praise America for civil rights revolutions and other social movements, still can’t resist talking about slavery and 3/5ths of a man, women not having the right to vote, and other past injustices. It’s as if they believe that, since the Founding Fathers didn’t have a 21st century politically correct conscience, that their accomplishments in creating our country must be minimized.

We should really start calling “Public Education” BROWN Shirt Education....(I stole that from a comment at the link)

Blame the parents and grandparents for this blatant brainwashing of the young. Obama became a Communist because his parents and grandparents were Communists.
To: Nachum
Fine then. Boycott big business. Then big business can’t pay the taxes needed to fund the indoctrination system.

Not surprising at all.
It reminds me of seeing in a local elementary school signs for Earth Day done by what looked like me to be approximately second graders quoting Benjamin Franklin saying “When the well is dry, we know the worth of water.” as if he was talking about water conservation, not saying a metaphor.

I'm as disgusted as you but I don't teach that crap. I do teach about the 3/5ths rule etc. because it is history and we need to know our past. I don't dwell at length on it as we have lots of other things to cover. I tell my students that honest Abe did not free a single slave. His proclamation only freed slaves in land the Union did not control. Further in the areas that were slave holding and controled by the Union slaves were RETURNED to their masters. Most people don't know that little piece of history but my kids know it. I want them to know WHY things were done. Not static dates that they will forget in a week. Dates are important but the context of the times and the why are more important. We cannot use 21st century ideas to explain what happened hundreds of years ago. We have to put ourselves in their shoes to understand why people acted as they did. I also teach how special this country is and why they should be thankful everyday they live here.
I teach in the Deep South where we don't have unions and we can still tell the truth. (For now).
One more little tidbit I love to throw out. One of the largest slaveholders in Louisiana was black. I know the family.

Okay, so now let them do an experiment.
take away every product that is produced by big business. The books, supplies, furniture, building materials,, the clothing, etc. etc. Now when they are standing naked in an empty field lets have the teacher explain why big business is bad.

OK, let's start with GM; GE; Hollywood; NBC, CBS, and ABC; Progressive Insurance; Citibank, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Goldman Sachs; and go from there.
Cheers!
