Cool out Francis.

The military has had "Courtesy Patrols" for ages. I pulled that duty in Germany in the 80's. These guys supplement MP's in places frequented by GI's.

It's not an NWO operation.

Oh bull shit. I pulled this duty many times in Columbia, SC, right outside Ft. jackson. Our job was to ensure that the GIs were in proper uniform and if we encountered drunken GIs we got the back to posts before they were picked up by the local cops. Back in those days 1967 - 1969 the anti war attitudes and the local hostility to the military was rwally bad. We were there to protect the GIs.

No, I have not been in the military, but this kind of thing scares me. Obama and his power-mad minions are running amok. And something like this is just what they would do to slowly condition people into thinking it’s “ok”.

Not so. Take that pill. We had them 50 years ago in Boston. Long before Obama was a twinkle in someones eye. We had teams of three. (MP, AP, and SP). We kept a lot of military personal out of civilian courts, and out of trouble.

We had no authority over civilians, Unless they engaged us, which happened once. A guy pulled a switch blade knife on us and
threatened o cut us up. The three of us took the knife away from him and held him for the local police. End of story.

I might add: He was happy to see the police after we got done with him.

These courtesy patrols probably go back to the beginning of America since they are merely commonsense and a normal way to manage soldiers and sailors in small military towns during times when they are causing friction (or being victimized by) with the local civilians. Here is an officer getting busted in 1951, while performing "courtesy patrol" duty while drunk, in "Columbia, SC, right outside Ft. Jackson".

It turns out that military patrols, in civilian cities outside of military bases, on American soil, are not uncommon under certain circumstances. I didn't know this.

But.

The idea that this would be used, today, now, to acclimize Americans to martial law, is not farfetched, given the current administration and it's czars and refusal to heed the restrictions imposed on it by Congress and the Supreme Court.

That said, there is also the reaction of the military shills on this thread, which has been quite over the top, and abusive, and mocking, and packlike - the exact componants of an operation designed to intimidate anyone who dares be concerned - in America - at the sight of armed troops in the streets.

So, in the spirit of history, to remind everyone of what happens when the efforts of these shills succeeds, when they actually shut down their citizenry from pointing out disturbing actions by their government, here is a little trip down memory lane. THIS is what you are working for, against your own country, shills - THIS is why you want everyone to "take a pill" - so they will forget THIS:

And that's why, shills: NO - some of us will NOT take your damned pill.

“Back in those days 1967 - 1969 the anti war attitudes and the local hostility to the military was rwally bad. We were there to protect the GIs.”

I can see the logic and reason in having “courtesy patrols” to deal with drunken soldiers, etc. But wouldn’t protecting them from the hostile locals be a civilian police matter? Unless you mean just keeping the guy’s in the “soldier” bars and not having their rowdiness spill out into more civilian areas.

In those days we had to protect the soldiers from the police too. The treatment of the soldiers at Ft. Jackson was so bad that the Commanding general placed the town off limits and threatened to bring families on base to live in tent cities. Once there was a negative effect on the local economy the community leaders were ready to help us control the abuses.

Yes, Courtesy patrols have been used for years. It's been used to take care of servicemen an servicewomen to keep them out of the MP’s hands, in uniform when you could only leave the base in uniform.

None of the sinister things that you ascribe to it are true.

This conspiracy theory of the worst sort In my Retired Military Opinion and experience with actual Courtesy Patrols does not merit space on FR.

Is it inconvenient to hear a contrary opinion to your own on FR? Does it get in the way? Is freedom of speech no longer allowed here? Especially if you don't agree with what's being said?

Is it your Retired Military Opinion that such concerns be silenced now? After all, Capitalized Opinions warrant so much more credibility, especially since they have the power to label armed military patrols in an American city, "Courtesy Patrols." If I had only known their name, I would never have been concerned in the first place - especially since it was certified by a Capitalized Vet.

I mean, I'm just a civilian, and I need to learn that this country is based on Trusting Government And Not Asking Questions - after all, that's in the Constitution, right?

Not silenced, but before such stories are posted as threats to the country and given credibility they should at least be posed as questions, asking what is this of knowledgeable Active and Retired military FReepers.

Then if it merits it, call it fact.

Concerns about what?

You were simply ignorant of an age old practice that has been going on for generations, probably back to historical times.

You started out ignorant and paranoid about those of us that have or do serve in the military, and you keep clinging to it.
