Ron Paul, man for the times, announces exploratory on Hannity
The US Report ^ | Apr. 26, 2011 | Kay Day

Posted on 04/26/2011 7:43:00 AM PDT by Crush

Texas Congressman Ron Paul appeared on the Sean Hannity Show on Monday, and the Libertarian leaning Republican confirmed possibilities for a 2012 presidential run.

“We are going to announce I’m going to form an exploratory committee,” Paul said. That announcement will presumably happen, according to Politico, on Tuesday afternoon in Iowa at the Holiday Inn near the Des Moines airport.

Paul is making the talk show rounds, appearing on programs like 'Fox and Friends' and dropping by the chatty den 'The View'. Along the way, Paul is also promoting and signing his latest book, ‘Liberty Defined.’

On 'Fox and Friends' Tuesday morning Paul pointed out two of the biggest problems in the U.S.—“militarism and welfarism.” He rightfully said the Federal Reserve does not have constitutional authority to print money and as far as a theme goes, not much has changed for Paul over the years.

“Freedom is the issue,” he said. Asked about the issue of “militarism,” Paul posed a question: “What if China did to us what we do in other countries?”

Paul’s dialog with Hannity was the most substantive, with the congressman responding to questions about entitlements, the war in Libya and troops in Saudi Arabia. Paul wants to “address spending overseas” and that approach will resonate with fiscal conservatives. He gave a nod to former CIA analyst-turned author Michael Scheuer as “the most knowledgable person about Osama bin Laden.” Scheuer, like Paul, has a non-interventionist platform on matters such as Libya.

Asked about the desire by some to introduce aspects of Sharia law into the judicial system, Paul said, “We have to defend our principles.” He does however acknowledge the right of the developer at the Ground Zero Mosque to put the building there. Paul said the mosque is “a private property issue” and we shouldn’t believe...

I never said Rush was a Paul supporter. I was questioning the poster’s need to have someone pick his candidate for him.

Did you think that he would pull Geithner in and drill him out of a job? I did. Ron Paul needs to take his first step. Do what he said he would. It's all BS as of now.

I would NOT vote for Ron Paul as County Dog Catcher, if our county were overrun with Chihuahuas. Not even if he were running unopposed.

lormand, perfect response. You gave detailed reasons for your position. That is what I expect to see on FR.

I posted my comment because I had read the first 8 replies and all could have been written by Saul Alinsky(may he never rest in peace)

No, I clearly identified that there were 8 Saul Alinsky type posts. How is that hypocritical? That was my objection and I stated it.

Man for what times? Isn’t he like a hundred and twenty?

You beat me to it. Hero worship has ruined the GOP. Now, it's doing the same to libertarians. He's got a valuable role to play, but another run is just silly.

“FR is a bastion of conservatism, you fool.”

Well another Saul Alinsky attack! How FR of you to call me a fool after I simply pointed out that there were 8 initial attack posts with ZERO substance and that is what I would expect on DU but not FR.

In your brilliant mind how does that make one a fool?

I'm not flaming you.

Alinsky has little to do with RP. Read my post #43. Argue from there?

“The founders where not isolationists.”

svcw, is that true of all the founders? I thought many did not want us involved in other countries?

Well another Saul Alinsky attack!

First you post a direct comparison of FR to DU and then you compare a conservative Freepers honest reply with one of the most despicable leftists of the last 50 years.

I think we now have two foolish examples of nutty thinking on your part. Want to try for a third?

No I just think it is a good idea for Rush to make a pick. Not the open Primaries where we get the RINOS like Dole, Bush, McCain, and maybe Romney.

I'm not flaming him, or you. He said nothing substantial. It fueled the flames imo. Many on this site are vehemently anti-leftist, myself included. Name calling is not a point. I've heard some good ones:)

lol......not quite 120 but he will be 77 years old in 2012...and I think Ron Paul's brain is shrunk to the size of one of my ovaries.

Well seems you do not want to be civil.

As we all compete in the arena of ideas, I do not like it when I see the same SA tactics on FR as I see on that vile DU site so if you want to attack me for such a stance then be my guest. I will be proud to be your enemy.

There were 8 attacks of zero substance (which I would expect on DU and not FR don’t you?) and in your mind it is nutty to point that out. Strange logic but it is your logic.

You did use the Saul Alinsky method in your response so if you have a problem with that being pointed out then maybe your should not have “Reagan Man” as a screen name as he was well above that type of discourse.

Post #3: ANOTHER BIG TIME LOSER.

Post #4: ...the Aw, jeez graphic

Post #5: Get aboard the Crazy Train.

Post #6: Funny headline (likely referring to "Ron Paul, man for the times...)

Post #7: ...the Loony Tunes graphic

All-in-all, I'd say these had substance. The man is considered to be a kook based on his relationship with truthers and others of that ilk, as well as his stance on military intervention when we're attacked (posts 2, 5, 6, 7), and he's ran for this office multiple times with little to show for it (posts 2 & 4). Paulbots get no warm welcome here. And there's been enough mindless threads by them over the years to justify these type of responses. I'd suggest your learning to live with it.
