As controversy continues to heat up over whether Barack Obama is a "natural born citizen" and thus constitutionally eligible to be president, Fox News has declared that Obama is "a citizen of the United States."
The proclamation came yesterday by Fox News anchor Shepard Smith, who said:
"He has produced a birth certificate. It shows his mother gave birth to him in Hawaii. It is stamped and sealed by the state of Hawaii. It is confirmed and Fox News can confirm the president of the United States is a citizen of the United States. Period."
Smith never mentioned that typical citizens of the U.S. cannot run for president, but that only "natural born citizens" can, which has to do not only with the birthplace of a candidate, but also the citizenship of a candidate's parents.
He was reacting to statements by Christian evangelist Franklin Graham suggesting Obama should produce his long-form birth certificate that includes the name of a doctor and hospital of birth.

Then you have't looked very hard. I saw one in the last couple of days that links to both common law and Supreme Court decisions defining "natural born"......."a person born in the USA to parent(*S*) who are citizens..." PERIOD!
Unfortunately, I didn't comment on the thread, so the probability of my re-finding the specific posted article is nil.

NBC? That would be the question if we ever get to see the long form BC. But they use our eagerness against us, and they discredit the extremely reasonable request to see the long form BC.
I just want to see the long form BC. And the school records. And the employment records, and all filing records for elections. Just the usual stuff, all the usual stuff.

I know a couple that went to Mexico so their son would be a mexican citizen when he was born so they could start a fishing resort by using his name as owner.
I don’t think that is correct. Barry’s mother was only 18 when he was born and I think the Hawaii law at the time was mother has to be something like 21 plus 9 months just to be a citizen, but both parents had to be US citizens to be a Natural Born Citizen from the founders writings. He was definately an Indonesian citizen meaning he had to renounce his US citizenship on adoption. He was influenced by his mother at a young age so I have some sympathy about renouncing US citizenship, but you can’t be a naturalized, natural born US Citizen. It is clear that his allegiances are not with the prosperity of this country so you can see why this requirement was in place.

No. BO is either a natural born citizen, or an illegal alien. I think that the chances of him being the latter are vanishingly small, but (1) if, for some reason, the Daddy who was about to abandon him decided that BO had to be born in Kenya, and (2) if his impoverished parents suddenly found the funds to travel from Hawaii to Kenya, and back, and (3) if they evaded the then current prohibitions on commercial air flight by late term pregnant women, and (4) if an American woman managed to deliver BO in Kenya without attracting notice, and if (5) BO's parents managed to return to Hawaii with the infant BO without, leaving a paper trail (ie, no passport for BO), and (6) if BO's young parents, in a US where blacks were routinely denied the right to vote, had the foresight to preserve BO's future political viability by simultaneously planting fake news items in the press, that BO had been born in Hawaii, and if (7) BO managed to keep it a secret his whole life, and if (8) -- this is (to me) the biggie -- the Clinton smear machine was unable to unearth this dirt, then BO is an illegal alien.
I think it more likely that Trump will become President, then that 1-8 will be proven to be true.
But... I've long assumed that the end game of Birtherism (at least the Kenyan Birth folks, not the 'his daddy was a Brit, so he ain't an American, wackadoodles' was that BO would release a long form birth certificate, which showed -- something. Illegitimacy. Muslim birth. Chronic halitosis. Something perhaps embarrassing, but by no means disqualifying. And that BO's minions, and the main stream media (but I repeat myself), would excoriate all Republicans for forcing the revelation.
That is till very possible. But the longer this goes on, the less you can write off BO's failure to release a long form birth certificate as merely being an example of "never interrupt your opponent while he is making a mistake." This looks like it is starting to hurt BO.
I believe obama’s mother killed Kennedy and that’s what he’s hiding in the long form certificate.
What law, cite one.....I can cite numerous opinions that prove you wrong.
Do you believe in intent of the writers or do you believe it can be molded to fit what ever fits your present mood?
I am praying for a 24/7, Internet-based, news “channel” that is truly conservative. Fox's ratings will drop like a rock.
