Five of the six teenagers charged with driving a 15-year-old Irish girl to suicide after an unrelenting bullying campaign have struck a plea deal agreement with prosecutors.

Despite denying the original charges of stalking, harassment and civil rights violations causing bodily injury they have now agreed to admit to a misdemeanour charge of harassment, and in exchange prosecutors will drop the more serious charges against them.

Kayla Narey, Sharon Chanon Velázquez, Ashley Longe, Sean Mulveyhill, and Flannery Mullins, all of South Hadley High School, faced felony and misdemeanour charges.

I have to wonder about the consequences of these actions, that is, what they would be in another country.

I’m thinking branding would be a good start.

How gutless of our judicial system. I’m not even going to bother going to university. Online courses all the way.

So, in other words they are getting away with murder, manslaughter at the very least. How very progressive and compassionate of the perps on the part of Ireland. Meanwhile, a 15 year old child is still dead because of their relentless actions to destroy her. Is no one being held accountable for their actions any more?

“Is no one being held accountable for their actions any more?”

No, one must not make filth feel bad about their actions.

This happened in Massachusetts. Sounds like they’re also dropping the statutory rape charge as part of the plea deal.

Sounds like they’re also dropping the statutory rape charge . . .

No surprise in a state run by Planned Parenthood.

Why bargain at all? What did these monsters have to offer in exchange? Now they escape being labelled for what they really are, and the State enables their release back into society to continue terrorizing it.

Oh. Sorry. I just answered my own question.

This is pretty bad. At the same time, these perps will be pariahs for years to come. Hate mail, perhaps death threats, shunning. Perhaps they'll have to change their names. Look at what happened to Lori Drew.

Hate to spoil the fun, but this was a trumped up media frenzy. The poor girl was a mess from day one and initiated a lot of the trouble. There should be no charges at all.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the “other” articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

Sounds to me like she was just an outsider (because she was a foreigner), and these twits were jealous because she was dating somebody they wanted to date. But she didn’t cause the trouble.

They did horrible things to her, and they were old enough to know better. But the people who should really be charged are any adults she may have contacted (guidance counsellors, for example?) who didn’t do anything about it because they were too intimidated by the teenage mob to exert adult authority.

But since public school teachers are out there sleeping with the football heroes themselves, maybe they’ve lost their authority.

All I know is that we have to be a better society and that starts from within. Personally I’d like to believe that conservatives are better but I’m seeing a lot of evidence to the contrary. Our society isn’t going to get better till we get better.

That means standing for what’s right even if we dislike or disagree with the person we’re defending.

End the government school system, and we will go a long way towards reducing bullying. Also, why do kids have to go through school as a herd? Tailor education to the individual learner, and children will be able to move on when they are ready. No more imprisonment for 12 years. The society of schools closely resembles that of prisons. They both feature compulsory attendance of a sort.

“Now they escape being labelled for what they really are”

Not necessarily. Don’t take my word for it, just ask Lori Drew, who’s in hiding under an assumed name after pulling a similar stunt to this.
