NEW YORK, April 29, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Teens who self-identify as homosexual are five times more likely than their heterosexual counterparts to attempt suicide, according to a study released last week.
The study, published in the journal Pediatrics online on April 18, was conducted in order to determine whether living in a gay friendly social environment affected the risk of a teen identifying as homosexual committing suicide. It found that teens in “unsupportive” social environments were 20 percent more at risk of attempting suicide than those in “supportive” environments.
“This study documents an association between an objective measure of the social environment and suicide attempts among lesbian, gay, and bisexual youth,” concludes the study abstract, adding that the results “have important implications for the development of policies and interventions to reduce sexual orientation–related disparities in suicide attempts.”
But Peter Sprigg of the Family Research Council pointed out that the takeaway finding from the study is not that gay teens are marginally less likely to commit suicide in a “supportive” environment, but that overall gay teens are so many times more likely to commit suicide than their non-gay peers – “a difference that far overwhelms any difference caused by the ‘social environment.’”
The study gathered self-report data from nearly 32,000 grade 11 students in Oregon. The findings also revealed that 21.5 percent of the gay teens surveyed reported suicidal tendencies, while only 4.2 percent of straight teens did the same.
The study author, Mark Hatzenbuehler of Columbia University, told Reuters, however, that no studies have been able to pinpoint the root cause of suicidal tendencies in gay teens.
From a psychological point of view, the study appears to leave open many questions: Cornell University psychologist Dr. Ritch Savin-Williams suggested to Reuters that gay teens may report as suicidal based on their own stereotype.
“We have given them the message that they are suicidal,” said Savin-Williams, who wasn’t involved in the study.
Sprigg, however, said that the “logical take-away” of the study might not suit the author’s original intention.
“The most effective way of reducing teen suicide attempts is not to create a ‘positive social environment’ for the affirmation of homosexuality. Instead, it would be to discourage teens from self-identifying as gay, lesbian, or bisexual,” he said.

They are searching for something and don’t find it in their sin. Not a suprise things look hopeless for them at that point.
On all accounts they are not mentally stable.
The kids would be better having free tobacco for smoking and chewing pleasure than to be a sexual pervert seeking to rim and felch with fellow homos. At least, with the use of tobacco they can’t continue to spread infectious diseases like a typhoid Mary.

Well, this obviously means that we must begin immediately a nationwide indoctrination program for all schoolchildren, promoting the homosexual lifestyle to them in all its details. This program should strongly promote the moral equivalence and health benefits of homosexuality to children starting in pre-school and head start. Children who do not show understanding and acceptance of the program’s goals and timetable will be held back for at most one year; if, after repeating the indoctrination program these students still do not show sufficient willingness to accept homosexuality in all its particulars, these children should be removed from their families and remanded to the custody of the Federal Government, unless they are resident in states that have been granted wavers by the Federal Government to conduct their own programs.

Homosexuals comprise 1.5% of the population and yet contribute to about 60% of the reported cases of STDs in in this country plus diseases like MRSA. Plus they have the mental illnesses we don’t desire but want the rest of us to have.
Most of the Catholic clergy are homosexuals who prey on young men who are alter boys which gets whitewashed in the media and instead try to blame it on religion.
Then the Left and the homos turn around and sue the the Boy Scouts for not accepting openly homosexual Boy Sout leaders.
Now they target our children in our government elementary, middle, and high schools for indoctrinating them into acceptance and practice of it. No thanks!
Snarky comments aside, what else would you expect? After being "nurtured" in a "safe, caring environment", and being constantly told that "all of their choices are OK".....
...when they get a hard dose of reality, some snap. Fact is that not ALL choices are good ones. Doesn't matter what lifestyle you choose, as long as you're willing to accept all of the consequences that go along with it. However, after hearing "No consequences. Everything is ALL OK. It's how you FEEEEEEEEL that matters" for all of their (short) years...... then getting dumped into the real world where HIV is a reality, where there are going to be people that hate you simply because you exist, etc etc etc.... has got to be a cold bucket of water.
Most people figure that out early on. Coddling those with alternative lifestyles (LGBTQ Centers come immediately to mind..... I can't remember the last time I visited my support network at the local 'Straight White Male' center) does far more harm than good.

I think this is being played up to gain sympathy versus “gay bashing” and force more “tolerance” on the general, normal, public. See, they are killing themselves because of the “unsupportive environment.” It’s the fault of the “haters.” Suuuurreee.....
HOmosexual agenda is being pushed more and more, normalized more and more, and yet people are more and more miserable.
What these people need is Christ, not therapists, not anything else. Christ alone.
