OUTLOOK, Wash. — A 16-year-old girl died on her way Harborview Medical Center early Friday, a victim of a suspected gang shooting Thursday night in Outlook.

Diane Lopez would have turned 17 in June. Her death is being investigated as a homicide by detectives from the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting occurred about 9:30 p.m. Thursday on 101st Avenue in Outlook, an unincorporated community west of Sunnyside.

Sheriff’s deputies and officers from the Sunnyside Police Department responded to the scene.

According to a news release from YSO, the residents of a mobile home heard a car pulling into their driveway. A woman who lives in the home saw four people get out of a car and walk toward the residence.

She broke a bedroom window in an attempt to scare them off. Instead, the suspects started knocking on the front door.

Lopez opened the door and was shot once in the side with a small caliber firearm.

She was taken to Sunnyside Community Hospital, where she was said to be in critical condition. Around 1:40 a.m. she was in the process of being transported to Harborview for further treatment. She died on the way to Seattle.

The only suspect information available is: four people wearing blue clothing and blue bandanas over their faces.

According to YSO, the incident is gang-related.

People with more information about this incident are asked to call the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office at 509-574-2500 or Yakima County Crime Stoppers at 509-248-9980.

Gangs - does this warrant an ‘aliens’ keyword and list ping?

Did they have shaved heads and wear baggy clothing? I wonder if they have two last names.

There should have been 4 dead POS blue clothed gang bangers on the porch. Barring that, there should be every blue clothed
gang banger in the area with thumbscrews on singing to the cops.

There are a lot of Mexican drug traffickers in Yakima County.

From reading the article it appears that they did not
have time to behead the victim and bury her in a mass grave.

four people wearing blue clothing and blue bandanas over their faces.

I humbly suggest that los periódicos del barrio, as well as the Mexican radio stations announce el color del día. It could save lives. Also, the Sheriff ought to publish color-guide maps, so that one can wear the right color in the right 'hoods. Many gang members carry small knapsacks ... apparently for costume changes, although spare ammo could also be helpful on pharmaceutical delivery and assassination runs.

Remaining problem: tattoos. So stay covered up. Another way to limit gang activity is to end the sale of large-bore exhausts for small Hondas. I have also seen gang-bangers driving even cheaper Korean and Malayan automobiles. A shocking lack of standards!
