It just dawned on me that common sense doesn’t fit into your dogma. There is no need for SOME of these weapons to be in the hands of non-military personnel. Taking away some of these assault weapons will do NOTHING to your personal rights to arm yourself, hunt, defend your property, etc. Nothing.

I don’t know about a stinger missile but legally there is no problem with me owning a cannon or flame thrower or a full auto weapon. See the assault weapon ban doesn’t apply to these items just semi auto’s like a .22 rifle.

I've heard the "common sense gun control" argument since I was a young man, 25 years ago, when the "assault weapon ban" was first floated. The arguments failed then, and they fail now, even more so since an AW Ban was law of the land for 10 years and made no measurable difference in crime rates.

We have laws in this country that are brought into being by the officials we elect via a Republic form of Democracy. I have given a reason...they are unnecessary to have these types of weapons in the hands of general public. What is the purpose of having a fully automatic assault weapon? Are the Canadians invading and you may need it to ward off attacks? There is ZERO good reason to have them. NONE. Please provide one if there is.

Apparently you are unaware of several recent breakdowns in civil order: Katrina, Rodney King riots, the recent tornados in the SE, where looters are roaming rural areas with LE that is stretched thin.
