We have laws in this country that are brought into being by the officials we elect via a Republic form of Democracy. I’m sorry if you feel your rights are crushed here, but for the common good laws sometimes do that. Most people that aren’t on the fringes realize this. We can agree to disagree on the merits.
I have given a reason...they are unnecessary to have these types of weapons in the hands of general public. What is the purpose of having a fully automatic assault weapon? Are the Canadians invading and you may need it to ward off attacks? There is ZERO good reason to have them. NONE. Please provide one if there is.
I’m all for keeping most weapons free and legal to buy and own. Not these as I have yet to see a single reason why people should have them other than “IT’S MY RIGHT”. Well, it’s not if laws are passed that are constitutional and say you don’t have that right.
For the last time moron, full auto weapons are NOT covered by the ban that the liberals like you love. In a real State like Texas all one has to do is pay a $200.00 tax and fill out some paperwork then you can have one. Scares the pants right off you doesn't it?

As I said, you're out of your league. The assault weapon bans being discussed have nothing to do with fully automatic weapons. Either you're ignorant of the issue or you're dissembling. Second, rights, natural rights and those guaranteed by the BOR, do not need to be justified; that would make them privileges.
But to humor you, I need them for the same reason the police need them. As they say, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away. Apparently you are unaware of several recent breakdowns in civil order: Katrina, Rodney King riots, the recent tornados in the SE, where looters are roaming rural areas with LE that is stretched thin. I'll bet you live within shouting distance of a police precinct; many of us don't.
That being said, your inability to imagine a good reason for me to own a particular firearm is not the same thing as a persuasive argument against my being allowed to own it. Sorry that you think it is.
