Bloomberg: U.S. Should Make All New Immigrants Live in Detroit

Detroit needs residents. Immigrants want to live in America.

Michael Bloomberg says he's got a simple solution for both needs -- send all new immigrants to Detroit.

In a novel approach to immigration reform, the New York City mayor said Sunday that if he could have his way, he'd use the immigrant workforce to jump-start the Motor City's economy by requiring Detroit residency.

Here is a better idea: Why don’t we have all liberal politicians live in Detroit? It is what their policies hath wrought...

Only those who have green cards so they have a right to work. (oops, Michigan isn’t a right-to-work state)

Well, in that case, waive all business permit fees for the first five years and establish a business concierge service that takes care of all of the paperwork. Let Detroit be a great American experiment in free enterprise.

Dear God, enough of our residents are already on food stamps, get BRIDGE cards, one of 40+ medical programs...

Bloomberg is on crack. That’s all there is to it. We in the ‘burbs have enough trouble with felons from Detroit exporting themselves to other parts of the state.

This is the stupidest idea I’ve heard since Obamacare.

I think you mean Eastern Europe. SWern Europe (Portugal, Spain, France) are bailed out by the north and have the most generous unemployment bennies as well (two years, at slightly under last salary).

Huh. I never knew “novel” was a synonym for “stupid-a$$”

In the Yiddish language, Bloomberg is what's known as a SCHMUCK!!!

He doesn't explain how these new immigrants are going to find jobs without skills - especially in a depressed, burned out city that has an oppressive taxation and regulatory environment - or start new businesses without money to invest in them.

Maybe he's being brainwashed by the current Chrysler (government-owned) commercials which are depicting Detroit as a great city for opportunity.

Excellent idea. Once they’re here legally, we’ll put up a big wall and call it the Detroit Ghetto. We could have Ghettos all over the country.

If we can pass a law confining legal immigrants to what I presume will be a walled area, we can certainly extend them unemployment, medicaid and welfare till jobs are created in the Ghetto. Hard to imagine a proposal less American than this one.

I presume Mikies grandparents entered through Ellis Island, yet they ended up in Boston. Shouldn't have allowed that. And Mikie went to school in DC. None of that should have been allowed, his family should have been confined to one of the boroughs.

They say the Tea Party is anti-immigrant, but I’ve never heard of a conservative who opposes immigrants enough to force them into that failed city.

There actually are such ‘no burden’ immigrants, but they’re the ones that we restrict and who don’t come here illegally.
