Bloomberg: U.S. Should Make All New Immigrants Live in Detroit

Detroit needs residents. Immigrants want to live in America.

Michael Bloomberg says he's got a simple solution for both needs -- send all new immigrants to Detroit.

In a novel approach to immigration reform, the New York City mayor said Sunday that if he could have his way, he'd use the immigrant workforce to jump-start the Motor City's economy by requiring Detroit residency.

Unbelievable. No, it's not from The Onion.

Imagine if Sarah Palin, or ANY other Republican politician had recommended such a thing.

Bloomberg also makes the false implication that immigrants come here and present to their new communities absolutely no burden. Clearly, that's not the case - not in the age of the "social safety net".

They came from places like Detroit. Why would they want to go there?

You don’t even have to have a background in corruption. You can learn on the job!

“Bloomberg also makes the false implication that immigrants come here and present to their new communities absolutely no burden”

For the most part legal immigrants do not burden their new community.

Illegal immigrants on the other hand are a tremendous burden.

Why does Bloomberg hate immigrants?

Well,THAT would certainly end legal immigration.

“Come to America to be robbed, raped or murdered” is not exactly inscribed on The Statue of Liberty.

Sure. Canadians would decline. Africa, South America, southwestern Europe, Central America and much of east Asia would take Bloomberg and his bipartisan fans up on that.

It would be a dream come true for Libertarians in both globalist parties. All of the Third World would funnel into the States through Detroit.

I’m pretty sure even illegal immigrants are constitutionally protected against cruel and unusual punishment.

"For the most part legal immigrants do not burden their new community."

It depends entirely on where they come from as well as the circumstances and type of legal entry they've made. For instance, there are large populations of Somali immigrants that were permitted entry on a humanitarian basis during the mid to late 90s (and even some later). Those new residents have nearly bankrupted their new home cities and counties.

Of course, I don't need to remind people of the mess the Mariel Bat Lift caused - all legal because of wet foot/dry foot.

Sure, many immigrants are helpful, useful even necessary and productive. But, there are plenty that get admitted that are nothing but dead weight.

Bloomberg’s proposal would make sense only if there were thousands of jobs available in Detroit, but no one to fill them.

That's not the case, and Bloomberg knows it.

So let me tell you what Bloomberg is really trying to say here: “Immigrants, please go to Detroit and get on the welfare rolls there. New York cannot afford you.”

Needs to install an electrified double fence first, doesn’t he, if he’s going to turn it into a concentration camp.

Pure genius. Send them to a place with no jobs so they can jumpstart the economy. That's like the idiocy of building railroads so jobs will be created along their route.

No thank you Bloomie, Michigan is starting to get up off its knees, we don't need to import more poverty.

"They came from places like Detroit. Why would they want to go there?"

Bingo!

Two posts in, and there's one that cuts right to the heart of the matter!

Immigrants only go where there's work - they'd never go someplace like Detroit, where the only "work" is as a union thug.
