In order to appreciate just how hard the US has been scammed by Pakistan, you have to look at this map of Osama´s luxury compound, located just next to the Pakistani version of West Point. It´s literally just down the block from Bin Laden. The city (Abbottabad) houses numerous Pakistani military installations. It´s now obvious that Pakistan was on the other side all along.

Who are the people in your neighborhood,
In your neighborhood,
In your neigh-bor-hood,

Who are the people in your neighborhood,
The people that you see each day.

Not sure how old the image on Google Maps is, but there has been allot of development to compound and surrounding area since this pic was taken.

And I would not disagree that the Paki government knew who was living in Warziristan Mansion.

And I would not disagree that the Paki government knew who was living in Warziristan Mansion. I just believe that the vast majority of people did not know or care.

In my post #38, where I said "would not have occasioned just a little bit of checking out", meant "would not have occasioned just a little bit of checking out by every police and government security office in the area", as distinct from checking out by common people.

Even then, a full-acre walled compound near my neighborhood would definitely be a topic of discussion in the neighborhood, with kids and teens having a lively interest in WTF is in there.

I think that there were many officials who were paid to not be curious.

Bin Laden got cocky.

If the idiot had been thinking, he would not have built a compound with a great big LZ inside it! At the very least he should have placed telephone poles strung with steel cables in that open field.

Of course, we would have been forced to use standoff weapons. It is great that they got the body, photos & DNA, plus it looks like they picked up some intel items while there.

BZ to the Seals and other personnel who pulled this off!

Semper Fi!

The British have been telling us about the problems with “pakis” for years. We didn’t listen.

No indication bin Laden moved much, if at all, from Abbottabad compound in 6 year since it was built - NBC News

6 years!!!!!!!!! You mean he’s been living for 6 years within spitting distance of the Pakistani West Point in an affluent neighborhood full of retired Pakistani army officers. Pakistan should be worrying more than just about the Indians at this point. If we had a real president we would be DEMANDING answers from Islamabad.

It isn’t just the ISI that is bad news, its the entire Pakistani security establishment. We can stop worrying about whether the Pakistani nuclear stockpile will ever fall into the wrong hands . . . it’s already in the wrong hands.

binladen, if he felt well enough, could have perhaps availed himself of the amenities at the Abbottabad Golf Club, just a few clicks south of his house.

The town was apparently founded by British officer Abbott, which explains both the name as well as the military tradition. This poem he wrote is at the golf club:

Also had an excellent medical facilities close by, including a teaching hospital.

It really seems like a cozy little haven for the military-minded of pakestan.

Seems the only thing keeping binladen hidden was silence.

Look at ABC's aerial photo #11 and tell me why it isn't the same as your photo?

The Defense Dept photo from the link you posted has north to the right, west to the top.

Compare with the CIA image and the location I posted from Google Maps--they match each other and yours, if you rotate yours 90 degrees counter-clockwise.

If you have ever lived in a third world country, and worked with their police, local politicians, and military; you’d consistently find that they know what goes on everywhere outside of the shanty towns. Shanty towns don’t make them money, nor give them prestige. Every one else if fair game.

There is too much corruption to be able to build a facility and hide for 5 years there. A lot of people got paid, even if they were ideologically aligned.

Because early information is not, as some seem convinced, guaranteed correct.

Exactly. You've got to think that the cops would initially want to check out who's there and what are they up to, if only to shake them down for "protection" money. Somebody had to be there telling all the snoopy officials "Stay away".
