Sen. Graham questions bin Laden's burial By Jordan Fabian - 05/02/11 11:09 AM ET

A leading Republican senator on Monday question the U.S. government's decision to dispose of Osama bin Laden's body within 24 hours.

Bin Laden, the former al Qaeda leader killed by U.S. forces on Sunday, was buried within 24 hours of his death in accordance with Islamic law. Sen. Lindsey Graham (S.C.), a top Republican on the Armed Services Committee, is skeptical of the decision.

"To me, that didn't make a lot of sense," Graham said during an interview with conservative radio talk show host Laura Ingraham.

U.S. forces were able to capture bin Laden's body after killing him at a compound outside Pakistan's capital city of Islamabad, but he was buried at sea soon afterward, reportedly to not leave a shrine to him.

The Obama administration is debating whether or not to release photos of bin Laden's body after some have expressed concern that the U.S. needs to do so to prove his death.

But others in the administration have been hesitant due to the graphic nature of the photo.

Michael Scheurer, a former CIA official, said Monday morning that the U.S. will likely release the photos to erase any doubt that he is dead.

“in accordance with Islamic law”

Then why didn’t they cut off his head and make a video for the Muslim world to see???

Maybe they “buried” him in the Bay of Pigs . . .

There are already several photoshopped pictures floating around. Why would you believe a picture? I’d like to hear from the SEALS as to what happened.

We did something there. Some guy who lives around there was bitching about the helicopters hovering overhead and the gunfire live on Twitter. He didn’t know what it was about until later.

Twitter had the first account of the incident. 7 hours after this Obama announced Osama was dead.

no freaking way that DNA test was done..which may be the reason you are seeing stories out to day that it isn’t done..and stories out that the results just came back.

What are the odds that OBL is not dead, but strapped to a waterboard singing like Michael Jackson right now?

If they don’t release these photos, and preferably some video, to prove this happened as described, there is going to be a backlash from many on the left and right, as well as throughout the world. There needs to be undeniable proof, or this becomes the biggest conspiracy since JFK.

It would anyway. Even if the mission had been broadcast live on the internet, and the body presented to forensic pathologists, the same tin foil hatters would claim it was a body double and any pictorial evidence or written documentation of DNA results were forged.

I liked a post I read about this on another thread. By disposing of the remains at sea, it will leave the Islamocrazies forever anguished at not knowing whether the body was defiled. Sounds good to me.

Who cares if he was buried at sea in 24 hours or not? Just the Muslims who are the target audience or conspiracy nuts who are trying to figure how long it takes to do DNA tests and fly the body from Afghanistan or Pakistan to the ocean.

The bottom line is that OBL is dead and his body has been disposed of at an undisclosed location. No trial, no shrine--just an ignominious death.

Here it is:

No, it ain't.

That is a Photoshop composite image that has been circulating around the Internet for two years.

guardian.co.uk, Monday 2 May 2011 12.03 BST .... Osama bin Laden corpse photo is fake .... Image of bloodied man picked up by British newspapers has been circulating online for two years .... It appears the fake picture was initially published by the Middle East online newspaper themedialine.org on 29 April 2009

As I said, disposing of the body at sea within 24 hours is a bone-headed move by Obama ..... especially in the Age of Photoshop.

Osama bin Ladin is about to become the D. B. Cooper of the Islamist terrorist movement.

I’m a fan of the “no shrine” burial at sea. It’s a good idea. I think the photos will either be released officially or leaked unofficially.

IIRC, they did something similar with Hitler's body.

It was a dumb decision indeed.
We needed the body, proof of death, and there was no reason at all to cater to Islamic anything.

That is not the bottom line.

What happened and the timeline is very relevant.

The story stinks to high heaven.

It’s not enough to say.. who cares.. Bin Laden is dead.

This is about Obama and his Wag the Dog moment.

It might be the biggest of some conspiricy but the biggest of all is Obama being POTUSA. I will accept that Bin Laden was done in under CinC Obama to his credit for something Bush2 couldn’t do. However the immediate burial at sea is bothersome. Does this foretell the burial of any muslem who might be executed for crimes in the USA? Along with this burial at sea my thoughts went back to the announcement that Obama had his grandma in Hawaii quickly buried at sea right after she passed away. Obama apparently likes burial at sea.

Osama Bin Laden Supporters React With Anger, Denial to News of His Death

The burden of proof is on Osama to prove that he is still alive. I doubt that will happen. Instead, Osama will be treated as a martyr by his supporters.
