Rush Limbaugh’s Sarcasm on Bin Laden Death – Is This Really Entertainment?
Forbes ^ | May 2, 2011 | Rick Ungar

Posted on 05/03/2011 12:28:12 AM PDT by Zakeet

While the daily words of Rush Limbaugh can anger as many as those to whom they hold appeal, there is always that footnote suggesting that – at the end of the day- it’s all just entertainment.

But is that really true?

I have to admit that while I have little to recommend when it comes to the venom that spills from Rush’s facile mouth, I have always been appreciative of his broadcasting talent.

Even when Limbaugh pushed it well beyond the limits of anything resembling good taste when he mocked Senator Edward Kennedy upon the man’s death, I tried to remind myself that there is a large segment of the American population who agreed with Limbaugh. If they lacked the human decency to show a little respect at the man’s passing, I suppose it was Limbaugh’s role to speak up for them – even if he furthered his reputation for not possessing an ounce of class in the process.

Today, on this rarest of occasions when all Americans can feel good about a great success accomplished by our government, Limbaugh took the opportunity to mock the president during his radio show.

It seems that Limbaugh believed that the president took too much credit for the successful mission that led to the killing of the world’s public enemy number one and used his sarcasm as the only way he could manage to put a negative spin on such an overwhelming positive event – even to Rush’s cadre of listeners.

Rush has one goal in mind, that this man not be re-elected in 2012. The Ruling Class that anointed him in 2008, whether Republican or Democrat, can live with a second Obama terms, , because he is, after all, one of them. ut can the country? Limlaugh thinks not. As for Kennedy, I thought it obscene that he be buried by the Catholic Church with such ceremony. He may have saved his soul, but the harm he did was immense.

Yes of course, what poor taste it would be to joke about Ted Kennedy, the "loin of the senate".

It's amazing how stupid self proclaimed intelligent people are. Not being able to understand Rush's point is a testament to their stupidity not Rush's "venom". Matt Lauer spent several minutes straight grilling GW Bush about specifically waterboarding Khalid Sheikh Mohammed trying to get Bush to admit to "torture". And now the media has completely glosssed over history to place Obama out of time.

I wish I could graph the disparity between the self-image of the intelligence of the Left and the deplorable reality. They live in daily refusal to exist within the confines of reality and will never understand the illustration of absurdity when they are the target of the ridicule.

Not really sure who was touche'd and who was torche'd in your mind. The Hill -- who thought Rush was being serious -- got thoroughly punked. This writer evidently was able to detect sarcasm, and since it was his ox being gored didn't like it.

The truth is that 0bama kept many of Bush's policies in place all the while kicking and screaming that he wouldn't do so. Now he wants the credit for an intelligence operation that has been several years in the making, elements of which predate his presidency. OK. That's the way politics in America is played. That doesn't mean we can't have some fun with this vain little man-child.

Read all about it and let Rush know. Here is a link to Foxnews reporting on BL’s death. The story on Foxnews is 12/26/2001. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,41576,00.html

Funny, I don't remember Rush mocking Kennedy when he died. While he was alive, you betcha.

Here is where I give my usual retort, Mary Jo Kopechne was unavailable for comment.

Funny, the L.A. Times thought Rush was serious about congratulating Obama for being such a wonderful leader in going after Osama.

Those Mainstream Media boys should get their stories straight.

It's ‘gonna be like the movie, Night of the Living LIB, er Dead”.

Libs will be crawling all over this and Rush.

From what I dared listen to with the 0dumbo speech, the 0ne used the I am great theme about 34 times during HIS presser.

If 0bammy was a real man, he would have given credit to Pres. Bush and all the intell he had done.

0bammy is a 0pansy!

Frankly, I did not get this at all. Rush tank BO for staying the course and then just replayed all of the I’s, me’s, my’s (in context) that BO used during his short speech.

No, it wasn’t entertainment, it was factual. If I wanted to be entertained, I wouldn’t listen to Rush.

Ungar = progressive hack

“The DNC has been working to help organize protest against states’ rights and the Wisconsin governor.

Yet progressive columnists who, for whatever reason, are allowed to post poorly-written Kos fantasies in a publication like Forbes and are freaking out over, who else? The Koch Brothers. ***Rick Ungar*** ironically and generously quotes the Soros-funded Think Progress in his diatribe about the Wisconsin protests.”

I only got to listen to Rush for about 10 minutes yesterday. It seemed he was sincere in thanking the Adminstration for nailing OBL. Was I wrong?

“Ted Kennedy, the “loin of the senate”.”

****

Yes...Teddy epitomized a “respectable” Senator. Because the first things that come to mind when his name is mentioned are (1) murdered (pregnant?) girlfriend drowned in car, (2) playing “waitress sandwich” with his colleagues at DC bars, and (3) socialist legislation.

And they wonder why people have an utter contempt for 99% of politicians.

ABC got pretty cynical itself, when it played a 20 second clip of Rush praising Obama, without even hinting that Rush was being sarcastic.

They played it perfectly straight, reporting that “even Rush Limbaugh had praise for President Obama.”

As for Kennedy, I thought it obscene that he be buried by the Catholic Church with such ceremony.

I was an altar boy back in 6th grade and would get excused from class to serve at funerals during the week. I noticed that some folks got a much higher quality of funeral than others.

Being quite naive, I made inquiries, and was tersely advised by Sister Superior that the folks with money were treated better by the church.

In essence, they paid for the higher quality of funeral. - It was the beginning of the end of my days with the catholic church. Up to that point, I wanted to go on to the seminary.

The writer's profile states that he is a "lawyer from Southern California". That is two strikes for starters, then onto the Blue Whale from Taxachusetts.

How about his deal making with the Russians to defeat Reagan's reelection? He clearly demonstrated his concern for women with his care for Mary Jo! The corruption of the Boston Archdiocese in permitting a tribute for an avowed abortionist with a solemn funeral Mass!
