I was stunned to learn while researching Mastermind that Guantanamo detainees succeeded in convincing prison officials to no longer raise the American flag anywhere they could see it. Each morning on every U.S. military base around the world, the American flag is raised to a bugle. But in the interests of not offending the detainees, it was stopped at Guantanamo.

Positively sickening. That's the way you treat enemy prisoners if you assume you're going to lose the war.

Hides US Flag at Gitmo

The person that gave the order to take down that flag should be cashiered with extreme prejudice and sentenced to stand at attention at the Iwo Jima Memorial 8 hours a day every day, rain or shine until he/she once again exhibits the respect that emblem deserves. I am outraged!
