President George W. Bush Not Joining Obama at Ground Zero Thursday
ABC News ^

President George W. Bush declined an invitation from the White House to join President Obama in a visit to Ground Zero Thursday.

"President Bush will not be in attendance on Thursday. He appreciated the invite, but has chosen in his post-presidency to remain largely out of the spotlight. He continues to celebrate with all Americans this important victory in the war on terror," according to a statement released by Bush spokesman David Sherzer late Tuesday.

"People like Couric are either woefully ignorant, or beneath contempt. I believe the latter."

Try both...seriously.

Plagiarizing ME from earlier:

I agree with President Bush. He doesn’t need to be part of that.

Bush’s character and patriotism are stand-alone and unassailable

Bush doesn’t need to sidle into the limelight (by invitation or otherwise) with “O” in order to demonstrate HIS commitment to the WOT or his love for the US. Those things speak for themselves... and always have!!!

It is for “O” to stand or fall on his own here. HE will have to make a clear and definitive statement against global terror ... OR, do just as he has done, SO FAR!

If I am correct in this, “O” will marble mouth some half-a$#ed BS which is more deferential than necessary to Muslims in general and not nearly as pejorative to Osama and his activities as it ought to be.

“O” will stage manage some real up-town program (maybe get the Styrofoam columns out of the storage) and whip up some pap audience excitement. All this will be done to distract attention and to lull viewers into a sense that “O” is strong in his support of the WOT and is actually (albeit, belatedly) patriotic. “O” won’t ever vigorously SAY he opposes global terror or possesses real unconditional patriotism, but it will LOOK LIKE HE DOES, because of all the razzle-dazzle and hype.

Broad farce. I wish we had a real President.

Any “bounce” he got from the death of Usama will fade away fairly quickly in my opinion.

It's spelled "Osama" like "obama" but with an "S".

It's easy to tell them apart. One is a radical moslem intent on destroying these United States and the other is a radical moslem intent on destroying these United States. See the difference?

obama is not his equal, and not equal to the US presdiency
obama is a small man

obama has spent the past 3 years insulting President Bush and blaming him for obama’s own ideological narcisisstic policy failures

the only successful policies obama has used, are the ones he continued from Bush

Thank You to President Bush for not allowing this immature administration to use you as a photo op in this dog and pony show they plan, and then use you as a punching bag. No doubt Barry intended to stand at the WTC and make some barbs to show he was “da man”

I agree with the ex-seal caller who told Rush that he thinks Obama was forced to make the call.....because of the possibility it would be leaked that he had the chance and didn’t take it....he would never get reelected.

Well, and at that it took him a reported 16 hours to mull it over and sleep on it. Obviously, he didn't want to do it, but now he'll be happy to reap the political reward of what should have been a 16 nanosecond decision.

Wise decision. Now let’s see if dear leader snubs him or credits him.

A picture of class and humility. He has said his piece.

In privacy, he likely offered a prayer for the victims of 9/11 and all who have fallen on the battlefield to bring justice to OBL’s bedroom.

A job well done, sir.

Obama speech the other night at whatever dinner he was at weas a good one. He should leave it at that and stop making victory laps. He sure could learn a lesson in humility from his predecessor.

What really shocked me last night was reading the crawl across the news channels that Nancy Pelosi called Bush to thank him...

obama could never have gotten the chance to get him without 2 things obama strongly opposed put into place by Bush:

1) Guantanamo
2) Waterboarding

3 things-

3) invading Afghanistan

I would add a fourth we may never know for sure
knocking off Saddam Hussein and his intelligence apparatchiks as a replacement for the Taliban in sponsoring and assisting al Qaeda

Guess he didn’t want the Ryan treatment.

For days now the princess boy has been bashing President Bush for going to Iraq instead of hunting OBL.

Now he wants to cash in on President Bush’s popularity.

I gave those 2 because they were definite and incontrovertible.

ANy lib which claims obama did this needs to be given these 2 things obama fought strongly against with every fiber of his being.

0 is just going to pimp himself now more than ever - we discussed this last Saturday BEFORE OBL killed - 0dumbo was everywhere already pimping himself for re-election. It’s so obvious unless one has a left leaning brain

He will once again have more money donated to him from mysterious people and places. If the Republicans don’t wise up and get themselves a “rock-star” like candidate who can fix the mess we’re in, they will lose again. Wake up people.

this vile marxist waited 16 hours before deciding to attack this clown. Like the Daily Mail said , “he slept on it”

yes , the US seals were left in a dangerous situation while Soros & Daly ran poll numbers and check with the UAW and Moveon.org to see if it was okay to attack.

Then Barry was sent off to play golf and get out of the way while the SEIU busses were being lined up for a phony celebration in front of the WH.

This is all part of the dems faux unity thing. All to create the appearance that we all have united behind him as people did behind Bush on 9/11.

They are very mistaken. There will be no unity. It is all made up. A phony attempt at best.

Speaking of Ryan, notice how no one is talking about the budget anymore. No traction for Ryan’s plan. Great political timing for dear leader tho...

Next stop...the theatrical presentation in New York and media will lap that up till the 60 minutes interview, which will cover the news cycle till the next press event. The endless campaigning.

Meanwhile, the endless spending continues.

President Bush knows, appreciates and follows the unwritten rule that former Presidents fade back and stay out of the limelight.

How great it’d be if the two living former democrat presidents would do the same.
