Ayman al-Zawahiri betrayed Osama: Saudi paper

DUBAI: Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden was betrayed by his deputy Ayman al- Zawahiri who led US forces to his hideout as the two were involved in an intense power struggle, a Saudi newspaper has reported.

The two top al Qaeda men had differences and the courier who led US forces to bin Laden was working and had more loyalties for Zawahiri, al Watan newspaper reported quoting Arab sources.

"The Egyptian faction of al-Qaeda led by Zawahiri was defacto running the militant group, after bin Laden was taken ill in 2004 and they were trying to take full control," the paper said.

The courier was a Pakistani national and not a Kuwaiti as the US suspected and the man knew he was being followed but disguised the fact.

Bullcrap. That’s basically like Ayman al- Zawahiri pulling a Pee Wee Herman-esque bicycle fall, then saying, “I meant to do that.”

Sonunds fishy. Ayman Al-Zawahiri is #2 in name only. Yahya Al-Libbi seems to be in charge of what is left of AQ.

The Pakis sold him to us in exchange for ending Predator strikes and cross-border operations. We’ll have wait and see...

BS, but a good story to float around and cause trouble in Al Qaeda ranks.

Agree. that being said, al Zawahari is incredibly dangerous as he is the philosophical leader of al Qaeda.

A clever piece of disinfo on the part of the Saudis.
Hopefully it will set a number of AQ types to blowing up one another.

If so, we should have been able to get them both!

Apparently O knew for something like 9 months and then the big 16 days where OBL was and sat on it. Once again, the Ditherer in Chief.

“The Egyptian faction of al-Qaeda led by Zawahiri was defacto running the militant group, after bin Laden was taken ill in 2004..”

THIS is the most relevant sentence in the entire article. The saudis know bin laden has been d e d since 2005 because THEY buried his worthless a$$ in their desert after observing all the rituals accorded to muslim leaders of note. Zawahiri announced it in a coded speech, but it was ignored by our intel and government because osama alive was always a good political boost when one was needed.
This just makes me sick.
I wondered how the saudis would handle this since they couldn’t come right out and say it even though they would LOVE to embarrass obama. This must be driving them nutser..

You can’t fake DNA....facial ID software, his wife, children and brothers in the same compound.

He’s as dead as a door nail.

As long as OBL is replaced by AAZ or YAL, I'm okay with that. If BHO rises to the top, I'm going to worry.
