DALLAS (AP) -- Former President George W. Bush decided not to join President Barack Obama at a Thursday ceremony at ground zero because he feels that acting presidents alone should preside over such official ceremonies, the former first lady said.
Laura Bush told The Associated Press on Thursday that she and her husband were out to dinner Sunday night when they received word that Obama wanted to speak with him.

Who makes photo ops out of the victims of Osama’s terrorism?
Muslims
Obama
Why would Bush want to help Obama with his reelection political grand standing?
“Wife” just seems a bit disrespectful.
Or will we be seeing headlines like “Wife: For the first time I’m proud of my country”...?
Wife: Does the Dougie
Bush doesn’t want to stand next to a pile of dung.
Bush probably saw how 0bama likes to roast his rivals in their faces in public, so he figured it was wise to stay away from that situation... especially when he had to endure so much of it as president. *Cough*Coretta Scott King Funeral*Cough*
What a perfect way to describe Maximum Leader.
I still don’t understand the purpose to these ceremonies......
Seems pathetic to me.
thought Obama said to not spike the football.
geez!
Bush has more class in the loaf he pinched this morning than the current occupant of the White House could ever hope to have.
"Hmmmm ... now how can I spike this thing and blame Bush at the same time?"
I remember Laura going on a morning show and complaining that her husband should not have said that OBL was WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE.
He apologized and also apologized for that in his book.
blech. Be nice if she didn’t go to the morning shows to criticize her husband.
She is still a classy lady, but in public she just need to keep her opinions private.

Why, because her opinions don’t track with yours? She is no more limited as a private citizen to voice her opinions than another famous private citizen, Sarah Palin.
I just was so unhappy with her criticizing President Bush on one of the notoriously hateful morning shows.
Criticize your husband in private, darnit.
And isn’t it funny how dead or alive is just fine and dandy with the msm now.
Bush is smart enough to smell a photo op coming. He doesn’t want to end up in a 2012 Obama campaign ad.
