'Presidenting while black' is birthers' biggest problem with Obama
The Kansas City Star / The Miami Herald ^ | May 5, 2011 | Leonard Pitts Jr.

Posted on 05/05/2011 12:00:09 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

One thinks of rats scurrying off a sinking ship.

Meaning the new exodus of birthers from birtherism. Fox News now says in a blog post that it hardly pushed the birther issue at all. Wonder how folks got the idea Fox did that? Oh yeah: by watching Fox.

And Rush Limbaugh says he “warned people this was a dead end.” This is the same Limbaugh who recently said there were “legitimate citizenship questions” about President Obama.

Granted, some on the right were starting to distance themselves from this absurdity even before Obama finally released his long form birth certificate last week. Witness Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer vetoing a bill that would have required presidential candidates to provide proof of birth. Perhaps the few remaining grownups on the right begin to fear the effect of being defined by cartoon characters and cranks.

But let us not dismiss the birther imbroglio without calling out the bigotry at its core. Yes, that word will bring howls of protest from people who will declare that race had nothing to do with their demands for Obama’s original birth certificate.

And I believe them. Or at least, I believe they believe what they are saying.

Thing is, bigots do not usually stand up and say, “I am a bigot.” They hide this from themselves, much less from you or me. Indeed, Mel Gibson, last heard telling his girlfriend she would be raped by a pack of effing N-words, just said in an interview that he is not a racist.....

While I admit the importance of the constitutional question, the lies and the policies of Bambi are enough, on their own, for me to reject him as President.

Skin color does not enter into it. Although, based on my own experience, most of the blacks that I know share many of his ideas. Racial? or cultural? Makes no difference to me.

I actually only hate his white half. The Dunhams were the looneys that turned him into a rabid anti-American communist. Daddy was merely a sperm donor.

This fool has more mommy issues than Oedipus Rex.

He says: “But let us not dismiss the birther imbroglio without calling out the bigotry at its core.”

But I hear: “Blah blah blah white males blah blah blah blah blah racism.”

This is a meme to make liberals feel better about something they really don’t want to understand. On some level, they actually believe that noone could oppose progressives except for venal reasons. So they spend much time and thought dreaming up venal motives for their political opponents. As long as the discussion is about motives, they don’t have to examine their ideas on substance. That’s why all discussions with liberals quickly descend to accusations that the conservative is greedy and racist.

Naturally, I disagree. Eugene has just been trained better than Leonard, and is therefore able to dispense his stupidity to an MSNBC audience, while Leonard is limited to transcriptions of his ravings. I will admit that Eugene has learned to express outrage over a wider variety of leftist topics, while Leonard is still stuck on racism, but that just shows Leonard is the stupider of the two.

Okay, you got me, I can't get over that one. Leonard is stupider.

Do I owe you a beer or Van Halen tickets or something?

Naah, forget it. Next we could discuss who’s stupider, Ed Schultz or his clone Stink Yugo. I’d have to say Ed, because he can’t claim to be an ignorant foriegner (unless he goes to another country).

But if Sergeant Schultz did go to another country, his stupidity would be awesome. He'd be a great competitor.

Typical of so many on the Left these days - he can’t make an a fact-based argument, so he yells Racist!

Pitiful, and it is past time for everyone to stand up to it. I hope the paper is covered in letters expressing outrage from their subscribers.
