Osama bin Laden dead: al-Qaeda 'planning to attack trains on 9/11 anniversary'
Computer files seized during the raid on Osama bin Laden's hideout show al-Qaeda were planning a "spectacular" attack on trains in the US on September 11, 2011, the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy.

The terrorist network is thought to have been planning to tamper with tracks so that a train would be derailed while crossing a bridge or valley, potentially killing hundreds of passengers.
The plan, developed in February last year, was disclosed by the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which issued a warning about it to law enforcement agencies around the US.
"We wanted to make our partners aware of the alleged plotting," Matthew Chandler, a DHS spokesman, said on Thursday night. "It is unclear if any further planning has been conducted".
The plot is said to have been in the "aspirational", rather than "operational" stages. No specific locations had been selected. But it will intensify long-standing fears that this year's tenth anniversary of the September 11 attacks will attract new threats.
The DHS said since Sunday's raid it had sent more officers to protect American airports and reviewed "protective measures for all potential terrorist targets", including the entire US transport system.

Obviously Muslims don’t like pigs, but I think the need for jihad trumps the need to avoid pigs.
Usually an incident with Gen. Pershing stopping terrorism by shooting Muslims with bullets soaked in pig grease is cited as an example of this being an effective way to fight Muslims. I’d need to look into this more, but I believe that the Black Jack Pershing incident is actually a myth and that, while Muslims REALLY want to avoid pigs, that won’t stop them from waging jihad.
Anyways, I’m not 100% sure about any of this and would need to research a bit more.

It’s a little late for me now, but tomorrow I’ll probably look up whether the Pershing incident is true and whether or not pigs really deter terrorists.

They can’t eliminate Christianity by destroying a city or even an entire country though. They’ve already tried to assassinate the Pope, and it’s no secret they want to destroy Israel, and the long-term plan is to kill or convert all Jews, Christians, and other religions. So what exactly do we have to lose?
I think it’s high time we stop calling Islam a religion too. If their “scripture” tells them to kill infidels and apostates, it’s not a religion, it’s a death cult. We need to treat them like the British treated the Thuggees.
The Pershing story is a myth I believe. There were quite a few instances where rumours spread about the British coating bullets in pig fat while fighting muslims in India, and also rumours of them coating the bullets in cow fat when fighting the Hindus, but none of those were true either. I think they can be attributed to either hysteria, or psychological warfare.

Pigs don’t deter terrorists. One of the principals of Islam is that anyone muslim who is martyred in jihad (whether committing violence themselves, or as collateral damage) gets a free pass to paradise. This overrules any other concerns, such as the purity, dietary, or burial laws. This is why the 9/11 hijackers could go to strip clubs every night, do cocaine, and party with prostitutes. They knew that if they completed their mission, it would all be moot.
It is true that a there is no city or object essential to Christianity. I'm thinking more of an illegalization of Christianity and persecutions similar to Roman times.

I'm usually in disagreement with this line of thinking when Islam is considered to be not a religion of free republic. Just because Islam is satanic doesn't mean it is not a religion. Just because we're used to the religion of Christianity being a force for good doesn't mean that a necessary characteristic of religion is that it is good. For example, I would consider the ancient Aztec religion to be a religion even though they cut live humans' hearts out in human sacrifice. But it would make sense to put Islam in a special category of religion, such as classifying it as a "seditious religion." Although, what's to stop that from happening to Christianity next? It would allow the left to officially persecute Christians.
Wouldn’t it be pretty easy to create a set of “rail drone” inspectors that run on the tracks ahead of trains (especially passenger trains) and verify safety?
Good points, but I don’t see any other way to defend against it than to isolate it for what it is. Perhaps it’s not something to be done at the government level, but rather a cultural innoculation is needed.

Probably nothing, I think they’re going to do that eventually anyways.
