Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) slammed President Obama Friday for saying that increased drilling will not solve the country's energy woes. “It’s absurd that the president keeps simultaneously claiming there’s nothing he can do right now to fight these rising prices at the pump, while pushing retread arguments from the Jimmy Carter era,” Vitter said in a statement Friday. Vitter, a staunch advocate of increased drilling, called on the Interior Department to issue more permits for offshore drilling in the Gulf of Mexico. Unless they do, I’m afraid gas prices will continue to rise, our dependence on

I’m amazed there’s even a single United States Senator who has his head screwed on straight. Good news, I guess. Take it when you can.

I'm waiting for the first "Boehner's fault" comment.

Seems we always get a whole slew of those even when the article is clearly about how Obama is blocking progress.

The thing that amazes me is the attitude of “If I say it, you must believe it without question.”

Just how stupid does he think everyone else is? He reminds me of the developmentally disabled child who’s only slightly smarter than his peers - but thinks he’s brilliant anyway.

Narcissism run amok meets affirmative action at its worst.

Great Society my ass.

...The House passed a bill to force the administration to sell offshore drilling permits in the Gulf of Mexico and off the Virginia coast, and the price of oil fell 8.6% in one day, the largest drop in over two years!

......The Republican House passed the bill, the Democratic President is threatening a veto.

What were the production humbers Obie was tossing around today?

I, first, don't trust the numbers and certainly don't trust they will be presented in the proper context.

Obama Begs Saudis to Increase Oil Production

President Obama on Tuesday said the administration is pushing Saudi Arabia and other countries to boost their oil production.

"We are in a lot of conversations with the major oil producers like Saudi Arabia to let them know that it's not going to be good for them if our economy is hobbled because of high oil prices," Obama told a Detroit TV station, according to The Associated Press.

What an idiot he knows his reelection is tied to keeping the eviromentlist happy and oil prices down, soon he will chose Drilling, OPEC wants gas at 120.00 a barrel

When we get rid of this insane King Obama in 2012 that the new President open up drilling every damn place there is oil. Oil is the life blood of any Country since it has so many uses beside energy.

Even if drilling for oil won’t make oil prices drop (and of course that clearly is wrong), it will create jobs. Jobs IN THIS COUNTRY. Jobs that we seriously need.

Oil is the life blood of any Country

0bambi takes a page from Winston Churchill's WW2 book and makes war on the USA:

Churchill's strategic directive in WW2:

1. Target oil production and refining

2. Coal and power stations, railways and distribution

3. Manufacturing capacity starting with ball bearing factories.

As an aside...one of the reasons for the success of the British in the Battle of Britain air war (apart from radar) was access to 100 octane aviation fuel from the USA....gave the Spitfires the edge in acceleration and altitude.
