Minority farmers have complained for decades that the U.S. Department of Agriculture denied or delayed giving them farm loans because of their ethnicity or gender, costing them their crops and land.
Now, the USDA has acknowledged the discrimination. It is urging Hispanic and female farmers who can prove they were wronged to apply for settlements of up to $50,000.
Frederick Pfaeffle, the department's deputy assistant secretary of civil rights, recently met with farmers and ranchers in Kissimmee and South Florida to promote the program.
The settlement, which some Hispanic farmers have criticized for offering too little and placing the burden of proof on them, will provide at least $1.33 billion to resolve discrimination claims dating from 1981 to 2000.

I read over 85% of the Pigford claims for Blacks and Indians were fradulent, I guess that’s why the MSM has left that alone...it messes with the “narrative” of victimhood.

If Congress did not appropriate the funds, the Adminstration cannot disburse them.
Yet the Administration has been disbursing funds that Congress did not appropriate for several years. I think they call it an 'ongoing resolution'.

Every year I plant Tomato’s Potato’s , pea’s , turnips, and Kale, and I don’t get a damned check.
What a country! I might have bad credit, incomplete or fraudulent applications, but if I’m of a certain minority group, I’ll get money! Heck, today, I don’t even have to prove citizenship!

The right solution is that taxpayers should not give any money Hispanic farmers, to female farmers, to gay/lesbian/transgender/trans-species farmers, or to white heterosexual male farmers - ever. Farmers should be paid by those who receive their crops and only when those crops are actually grown and delivered to market, or by private crop insurance companies and only when insurance is chosen before the crops are lost and the premiums are paid on time.
I suspect the bond market has a higher probability of detonating DC as we know it...rather than We the People in Flyover Country.

OOOOOOOPS. Nobama is down in the Hispanic polls. We need to buy Hispanic votes. Quick make up a reason to throw millions at the Hispanics. Racism is always good - we have squandered billions in the name of racism in the last two years; a few hundrem million more will not make a difference.
Let’s just say that the Bush administration dicriminated against them by not giving the Hispanic community as many taxpayers dollars as they deserved. To correct this flaw we (the good guys) will sale America’s unborn children into slavery to the Chinese; give the money to the Hispanics; so Nobama can be re-elected President.
For $50,000 I can ramp up my Spanish and go in drag. ;O)
