The U.S. Senate today overcame a Republican filibuster and approved a former Planned Parenthood abortion business director, John McConnell, as a federal judge in Rhode Island.
Senators voted 63-33 to surpass the 60-vote threshold necessary to stop the filibuster and approve the nomination of McConnells nomination to the District Court for the District of Rhode Island. his nomination previously cleared the Senate Judiciary Committee recently on a party-line 11-7 vote.
Senate Republicans joining all Democrats to end debate included Scott Brown of Massachusetts, Susan Collins of Maine, Lyndsey Graham of South Carolina, Johnny Isakson of Georgia, Mark Kirk of Illinois, John McCain of Arizona, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Olympia Snowe of Maine, and John Thune of South Dakota.
McConnell was confirmed on party lines in a 50-44 vote afterwards.

FUJM!!!
Evil sons of b@tches all of them!
mcain is so stupid, he seem to think the process is simply to rubber stamp anyone the president pick. If a judge don’t understand the constitution then he’s not qualified. It got nothing to do with ideology. MCcain seem to think if that liberal president should be able to pick liberal judges and Senators have no say
FUJM
John Thune?!
Now the Hussein Cult has another Sacrament of Death adherent in a seat of power.
Congratulations, liberal Republicans. You’ve again endorsed someone who relishes the destruction of unborn children.
What happened to Thune? Did he get Potomac fever?
Others like Snowe, Collins, Brown and Graham fall under the "usual suspects."
where was Orrian hatch? He’s the guy that escorted Ginsburg into the chambers back in the 90’s.
McScum and your usual list of RINO filth, understandable. But Thune?!!!!
I have a feeling that Thune is going to be absolutely excoriated for this knife-in-the-back through thousands of phone calls and e-mails in the coming weeks. Hopefully, he’s replaced by a conservative in the next election.
>>> MCcain seem to think if that liberal president should be able to pick liberal judges and Senators have no say
You sound just like Harry Reid justifying the arbitrary blocking of republican judicial nominees.
McCain on the other hand said then, and seems to say now, that nominees are entitled to a floor vote. Since it was a party line vote I note it’s glossed over by Op, as always in these howler monkey threads, that McCain and the others voted against confirmation.
When it was Bush nominees being blocked it was our position they were entitled to an up/down vote. Who is being consistent on a principle. And who is hypocritical ?
Sounds like they need replacing!!!
The Dems didn’t give them an up/down vote. Why should we give them what they weren’t civil enough to give us?
Screw them, make them pay.
Target these RINOS!!
RINO HUNT RINO HUNT RINO HUNT!!!!
With the current crop of RINOs even if the Republicans do win a majority in the senate next year it will be a hollow victory. The trouble is that, just like McCain, they will be very hard to knock off.
Having a vote and voting for the person are two different thing. Mccain allow the vote and then vote for the person as well
And his Robin Lyndsey Graham.
Socialists every one, I tire of the name RINO because it misleads people as to who they really are, socialists.
LLS
LLS
mccain has dropped to an approval in Arizona that is in the mid 30’s... heard it on Fox yesterday.

>>> Mccain allow the vote and then vote for the person as well

Though I can understand how reading Op’s summary would mislead you on the question. Which seems to be his point. Has been for years.

Doh!
The judges should all run the gauntlet of abuse ~ and those who are weak and seek political succor from their friends in the Senate should be the first to be dismissed.
One of the problems we have with the federal judiciary is entirely too many sociopaths get put into place as judges ~ the feeling being that sociopaths are demonstrating judicial temperament. I suppose you can do that for a while but if it's not backed up with some quick way of removing them from the bench next thing you know you have a bunch of very dangerous people up there ~ and that's where we are at.
For example, NO person in the management of Planned Parenthood can ever be thought of by anyone as anything other than a sociopath, and a particularly dangerous one. Why would you nominate someone like that? Why would you vote for someone like that?
Blechhh.
read my tagline so you will have a better understanding of the process.
Not a single one of these named are worthy of retention. Any Judge that promotes or defends the unconstitutional abortion industry-or the practice— any Judge who like Vaughn Walker is anti-Christian and promotes abomination is Not a righteous judge but evil and anti-American .Those who favor the idea of government “doing something” even when it means allowing evil
to advance (so they can get on with other business) is just a political GAME.And deception in itself.
just a reminder, McCain opposed enhanced interrogation, MSNBC used that alot and still do. No one wants to ask him about it now.
“Target these RINOS!!”
Correct me if I’m wrong, but of that list of 9 Senators, 5 were just elected/re-elected in 2010 (Thune, Isakson, Kirk, McCain, Murkowski).
There is absolutely no reason for this obviously biased and compromised judge to be seated. None. I'm done and I'm disgusted with the party I've been a member of for 21 years (since I was eligible to vote).
The sole purpose of the Republican Party is to serve as an ineffective alternative to the Democrat Party.
Sick of it, and I'm done. If these clowns didn't hear the loud and clear message of the voters last November, they never will change. Instead, they seem to be more willing to work with the Dems, which truly baffles me.
At the very least, this baby-killing judge should have been seated by recess, and at that point, use that appointment as a campaign issue in swing states. But no, we have to play nice, don't we, and roll over on our backs like cowardly dogs.
Typical RINO deception. Cave on the important cloture vote, then vote NO on the main vote when you know you are going to lose anyway. This way they go back to their state and tell their constitutents that they opposed a liberal judicial appointment, when they actually supported it. Does anyone think these clowns would do anything different even if they again held the Senate majority after 2012?
But he voted against the measure to maintain his fictitious, ultra “Conservative” rating.
self ping
They ALL give in. ALL Incumabants should be thrown out on their keesters! I haven't seen one of them worth thier salt to be called conservative.
Back in 2008 before and after McLame won the GOP nomination, the pro-choice groups were noticeable quiet. This vote explains the reason why.
Technically, it’s 6 since Scott Brown was elected in January 2010.
I could’ve guessed all of them except Thune and Isakson.
I doubt it. During his first term he joined the Dems in being 1 of only 2 Republicans (the other was George Voinovich) helping kill John Bolton's nomination as UN ambassador, joined John McCain's "gang of 10", helped ultra-RINOs Mark Kirk, Charlie Crist, John McCain, Lisa Murkowski, etc., in their primaries, was named Porker of the Month for all the federal taxpayers gravy he brought to South Dakota, defended the TARP bailouts, and said the GOP should continue to be "bipartisan" with Obama after he shoved Obamacare down our throats.
He was then unopposed in the 2010 primary, and a bunch of freepers swooned over the thought of giving him a promotion to the White House for 2012.
Another Federal baby killer on one of our so called “courts”. We’re going downhill has fast as we can.
I concur.
PING
The Democrats punk’d the GOP last election. Crossover voters in primaries pushed for McCain (as they had in 2000).
The order of the primaries needs a major shakeup.
That hurts.
RINOs one and all - all in favor of infanticide!
Will someone rid us of these vermin in the Senate?
Confirm decorated, no-nonscene foreign policy statesman and staunch pro-American advocate as U.S. Ambassador? ![]()
HELL NO!!!
Confirm millitantly pro-abortion, ultra liberal, unqualified Democrat Party hack as federal Judge?
HELL YES!!
Thune’s not up until 2016. I betcha few in SD will remember this vote 5 years from now, and if they bring it up, Thune will say that he opposes filibusters for District Court Judges and that he believes that all such nominees deserve an up-or-down vote, and that will be that.
He didn’t have ANY opponent in the last election.
