The latest NBC News poll finds that nearly two-thirds of Americans back President Obama's decision not to release the photos taken after Osama bin Laden's death.
Fifty-two percent said they strongly believe the Obama administration should not release the photos, and an additional 12 percent agreed, although not as strongly.
By comparison, 24 percent said they strongly believe the photos should be released, and 5 percent more agreed not so strongly.
On Wednesday, the Obama administration announced it would not be releasing the photos, even though some politicians claimed they were needed to prove to the public and world that bin Laden was dead. However, on Friday, al Qaeda confirmed that bin Laden was killed.
The survey -- which will be released in full Monday night -- was conducted by Democratic pollster Peter D. Hart and Republican pollster Bill McInturff, and it was taken of 800 adults (100 reached by cell phone) from May 5 through May 7. It has an overall margin of error of plus-minus 3.5 percentage points. .

From the "quick, lets conduct a poll to support our leader" file.
I have some news for the media. I don't care if you release, don't release, or eat the photos for breakfast.
It's a nice attempt at diversion. I care about the economy, fuel prices, the housing market, socialized medicine, illegal immigration, National defense and an expanding, controlling Government.
Why doesn't NBC "News" take a real poll on those issues?

The whole purpose of not releasing the photos is that it would ruin the Osama bin Laden brand! A photo of a dead terrorist leader would look very bad for Jihadis.

Plenty of photographs are out there. One of them may even be real. The manifestation of doubt is what mattes.
I would not trust two thirds of this counties population with a squirt gun (they would pee in it)... Or a steel fork (they might put out an eye).
There comes a point when beating a dead hose into a fine pulp becomes... boring and messy.

I could care less if the photos are released or not. The only reason I would like to see them released is because Obama doesn't want to release them.

2/3 of Americans are content with being bullied by a government who thinks the citizen are the children and the bureaucracy, the responsible parent. Also, 2/3 content about living in fear of Islamic radicals.
A responsible government would release the photos and grant a tax holiday for all gun and ammunition purchases. The Feds would pressure States who do not pass CC laws by withholding Federal $$$. Also, drop copies of “On War” in Afghanistan and explain that nation building has ended. We won't reveal our strategy and tactics, but rest assured it will be bloody as well as painful unless you submit fully to our needs/wants. The sooner we finish our mission the sooner we leave and let you go back to your "sophisticated" ways of living.
We either impose our will and fight to "render the enemy helpless" or get out. The enemy will be defined as wearing civilian clothes since that is their uniform of choice. Neocons, State Department drones in comfortable A/C offices, and nation builders, ponder over that (Geneva/uniforms) while we keep wasting an exorbitant amount of resources of our nation already swimming in mountain of debt.
