Gingrich announces he's running for president

ATLANTA (AP) --- Newt Gingrich, the House speaker who led a national GOP resurgence in the 1990s before facing ethics questions and resigning, is running for president.

Gingrich's announcement, made on social networking websites Monday, came after months of public flirting with a bid. He enters a slow-to-form GOP presidential field that has left some Republicans craving more options as they search for a nominee strong enough to credibly challenge President Barack Obama.

The former Georgia congressman, well-known to most Republicans, brings to the race a years-in-the-making political machine with ties to early nominating states as well as a network of supporters and donors. But his personal baggage --- he's acknowledged marital infidelity and has had two divorces --- could hinder his chances of winning the party's presidential nomination more than a decade after leaving the House.

Still, he spoke confidently of wide support.

Sorry, Newt, but--paraphrasing YOU about Reagan--the era of Gingrich is over.

“Why can’t we find a former veteran,..who became a CEO of a successful business, has a decent marital track record with kids, that will run for president”

Would Cain-West work for you? Cain was never in the service although he did work in the department of the U.S. Navy. And he is a successful CEO.
West has all the military experience you would ever want.

Breitbart is slobbering at the bit for a Cain-West (all Black) ticket just to tick off the PC crowd. I’d like to see that too if Palin doesn’t run. I hate political correctness.

Why isn't he dead to Sean Hannity, who had him on after the NY23 debacle - and didn't even ask him about it!!!

Sean Hannity was on the radio here in Atlanta when Newt was just starting out. He gave Hannity access and helped him with political insider knowledge in his formative years.

The only other thing I'll say is that Hannity is at least, loyal to a friend. I don't respect his choices though. I think they both think, they owe each other Big-Time.

“AND WHO THE HELL IS THE EX GOV FROM NM, WHAT A FAIRY.”

He may look a bit light in the loafers, but those loafers run in marathons and has climbed the highest mountains. His goal is to climb the highest mountain on each continent.

He also vetoed over 700 bills when governor.

He and Ron Paul should run together - lol.

I’m still hoping that the bigger the field the better the chance for Palin or Bachmann to win the primaries. I also like Cain-West.

A vote for a third party (and there are about six of them) is a vote for Urkel.

Most of the “new world order” fears are based on misinformation, disinformation and sheer crap.

Take Bush I’s famous remark about the New World Order, it had nothing to do with some nefarious or mythic plot. He was talking about a new world that was emerging because of the collapse of the Soviet Union not some conspiracy against America. But this does not stop the howling mad from blathering on.

Don’t worry you won’t have to cast that painful vote. Newt has only a slightly higher chance at winning the nomination than I do.

“Would Cain-West work for you?”

Maybe. Heard Cain some when he has filled in for Boortz. I’d like a successful CEO to run.

Better to have someone who has run a company than community organizers and academics. Nobody knows when to shut down the credit card, they just want more credit.

I’m tired of the lawyers who go to state legislatures, then congress,..governor/senate, and believe they are an expert on how life should be for others.

Then again,..i’m for a one, four year term for President. That way, his/her entire focus is to implement what they promised in the campaign, rather than paying back those that got them elected, or will soon be re-electing them.

Maybe Gingrich, Romney, and Daniels will split the “establishment” vote enough to allow an actual conservative to win this time around. Usually the opposite happens.
