Ex-Calif. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and his wife Maria Shriver announced they are "amicably separating," after 25 years of marriage.
In a joint statement released Monday night, the couple said they are living apart while "they decide on the future of their relationship."
"This has been a time of great personal and professional transition for each of us. After a great deal of thought, reflection, discussion, and prayer, we came to this decision together," the statement said.
Schwarzenegger and Shriver said they plan to continue to "parent their four children together."
"They are the light and the center of both of our lives," they said in the statement.
The couple married in 1986.
Both Schwarzenegger and Shriver said they consider this a private matter and plan to not release any further comment.
"We ask for compassion and respect from the media and the public," the statement said.

It was kind of sad that if Sargent Shriver’s daughter was going to marry a Pub it would be a pro-abort one.
All these years, I’ve been erroneously referring to the “Kennedy teeth” that work better than any DNA test to identify a Kennedy; obviously, they’re the Fitzgerald teeth.
Kennedy men do not do too well either.
Any bets on how quickly we find out Ahnuld is seeing a 20-something model?

Arnold/Maria Split — A Long Time Coming
Maria Shriver has been “miserable” in her marriage for a long, long time, sources connected with the couple tell TMZ ... and it’s all about Arnold Schwarzenegger’s “craziness.”
We’re told Maria moved out of the couple’s L.A. mansion months ago. Sources tell us she’s been extremely unhappy in her marriage for years, complaining about Arnold’s out of control ego, as well as his womanizing.
We’re also told Maria feels Arnold has ignored her for years and she’s felt terribly unappreciated.
Sources say the couple has spent “very little time together” for several years. Maria was frequently absent from Sacramento while Arnold was Governor.
The situation got worse once Arnold left office and decided he wanted to resurrect his movie career. Maria felt Arnold was becoming more erratic — more “unstable.”
Our sources say Maria’s religious views caused her deep distress over whether to split and/or divorce. As one source put it: “She’s been a lost soul for a long time.”
And so the “Bullet-Proof Kennedy Breeding Program” comes to a sad end.

The Kennedy women do not age well. Look at Caroline and remamber Eunice Shriver? Maria’s mother. If you want to know what a woman will look like when she gets old just look at her mother.
I saw Teddy in person down in the Carribean about 10 years ago. It was not pretty.

So Maria ..... how does it feel, to be a used-up political torpedo of the Left? You'll catch some attaboys for a while .... then what? I guess there's always that Hyannisport house and the dysfunctional people floating through it.
Wonder if Arnold will ever be able to get his head back together. I agree he got lifetime-and-five-stars Used by Maria and her family.
Plus, she looks anorexic, which could be a sign of deep unhappiness.
