A swimming coach has resigned after he was allegedly caught on camera pulling a schoolgirl from the pool by her hair after she did not swim fast enough.
The shocking footage appears to show the assistant coach at Roseville High School, California, reach down into the water and grab the 17-year-old girls hair after her team finished fifth out of six in a competition. Coach Geoff Capell was reportedly unhappy that the captain of the varsity team Jennifer McCarroll and another girl were not giving the race their best effort.
The video has caused outrage after it was posted online and Placer County police are investigating the alleged assault. The girls mother Tiffany McCarroll told MailOnline that she has filed a complaint with police.

“If that was my daughter....”
Ditto. I am not a violent person by any means of the imagination but touch one of my kids and he wouldn’t know what would have hit him.
If that were my daughter, he’d be needing embalming.
The idiot principal needs to be dunked into the deep end too for this sorry attempt at equivalence...
My sister is in high school and if that were my sis, I am sure my brothers and I would be hauled to jail due to some “events”.
bttt
Even if the swimmers purposely dogged it in the water, this looks like a coach who can’t keep his temper.
It is reported that the assistant coach was angry because Miss McCarroll and another swimmer had intentionally not swam as fast as they could because they already knew their team had been eliminated. 'They had already lost,' Mrs McCarroll told MailOnline. 'They were not going to advance to the next stage of the competition, so in the last race the girls decided to just have fun with it.'Our daughter was in competitive swimming for 10 years, and I've seen this type of thing happen only once (where swimmers intentionally kick back) and it's the most disheartening thing for a coach to observe (like spitting in his face) and makes the school/program/him look like a joke. The coach could have given the girls a stern talking to instead of grabbing the one girl's cap/hair (which is inexcusable), but I can understand how this could happen. These girls made a very bad choice. Hopefully, they'll understand better what "teamwork" means in the future. (And the coach has to learn how to become a little less like Bobby Knight if he wants to continue to coach girls.)
Having coached swimming and been involved for many years the guy should be fired right off. Any good coach who thought their swimmer was loafing on purpose and was not ill would have made them swim a few extra laps until their arms fell off.

Yes, that would have worked too! :) Did you coach in Illinois perchance?

That’s a load of bull. Who’s the adult in this scenario? So the girls slacked? They’re girls, not women. The coach is a real tough guy. /s
I’ve played sports for quite a few yrs. Players do stupid things, and a coach knows(or should know) that. This idiot wasn’t man enough to keep his temper, and ego, in check. Can his butt because he doesn’t deserve to coach anyone.
To be clear, are you saying it is okay to assault little boys? Are we seeing a double standard here?

Yes, they do think it is okay to abuse boys in every way.
I though that was how you’re supposed to pick up babies.
If they were smart, he would not know who whacked him. He would only know that two guys with ski masks came out of nowhere...
