Neighbor charged in strangling of girl in Pennsylvania

A neighbor was arrested on Tuesday for raping and strangling a 9-year-old girl whose bloody body was found in a dumpster at their apartment complex in a Philadelphia suburb.

James Lee Troutman, 36, was charged with 10 criminal counts in the death of Skyler Kauffman, whose bloody corpse was found a few hours after she disappeared on Monday.

"Troutman admitted he choked Skyler to death with his hands," police said in an affidavit filed in court.

"He also admitted that Skyler's head hit the floor a couple of times as least," the affidavit said. "Troutman stated that after he murdered Skyler, 'I got rid of her. I think the dumpster.'

An autopsy showed the girl died of asphyxia and blunt force trauma, according to Montgomery County District Attorney Erisa Vetri Therman.

An angry crowd screamed "Dirtbag!" and "You're a piece of trash!" as Troutman, handcuffed and wearing a bulletproof vest, entered the courthouse -- which is next door to the apartment house where the crime occurred -- on Tuesday afternoon.

He was charged with first and second degree murder, kidnapping, rape of a child with serious bodily injury, involuntary deviant sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, unlawful restraint of a child, false imprisonment, abuse of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence.

Back in the day when justice was done, all it would have taken is a rope and a tall tree.

involuntary deviant sexual intercourse...

Written by a RAT. Will get a RAT lawyer, a RAT judge, and RAT jury.

Poor victim of society will live to DO IT AGAIN if bleeding hearts have anything to do with it.

Let’s keep up on this story.

I’m sure it just came out of the blue with this guy. Like no-one that knew him even imagined he was capable of doing something like this... Yeah, right.

I’d rather believe otherwise but it seems sometimes these really sick killers do have a way of appearing normal to many if not all others.

I remember for example the BTK killer, what was that, had a wife and kids and a job and did volunteer work and neighbors and none of them suspected a thing.

There have been others, several, whose names don’t pop up right away that have been convicted even of multiple murders who have many, many people who testify that they seemed normal.

Of course you have the Kacynskis and the creeps who held the girl in Antioch and the abductors of the Utah girl who behaved like obvious loonies.

It is unsettling and I wish it weren’t so, but I do believe that some very violent and wicked people can present as completely normal when they choose to.

Associates of the BTK killer commented that he was a bit of a control freak.

involuntary = without consent of the victim, as in not statutory rape.

“Associates of the BTK killer commented that he was a bit of a control freak. “

A few did, yes, but none had the slightest notion that he was sexual torturer.

I’ve known a few control freaks in my life. None were serial murderers, as far as I know.

It would be nice to think we could “spot” the bad guys if we watched out. I wish it were so. I don’t think it always is.

The name Ted Bundy should ring a bell. - Of course Florida took out the trash after the other states did not.

Yes. - Classic sociopathic behavior

I always question the use of bullet-proof vests on such reprehensible people. Of course, I should consider the possibility that he is being reailroaded, but by the sounds of the story, it looks like they practically caught the guy red-handed, i. e. with the victim’s blood on his body and clothes.

“but none had the slightest notion that he was sexual torturer.”

Oh I think this is true for almost all of these evil people.

Remember David “son of sam” Berkowitz? Didn’t he work for the Post office?

The only one I can think of who really looked the part was Charles Manson.

If you could see their evil clearly they wouldn’t last 5 minutes, that’s the thing.
