Florida Bill Would Prohibit Doctors From Asking Patients About Their Guns
Foxnews ^ | May 10, 2011 | Foxnews

With a stroke of the governor's pen, Florida is positioned to become the first state in the nation to prohibit physicians from asking patients if they have guns in their homes, a move some doctors say will interfere with health care.

The Florida Senate passed House Bill 155 last month by a 27-10 vote and the measure now awaits the signature of Republican Gov. Rick Scott. If signed, it would ban doctors from asking about the presence of guns or ammunition in the home.

Republican State Rep. Jason Brodeur, a sponsor of the bill, proposed the legislation following an incident in which a Florida pediatrician told a mother to find another doctor when she refused to answer questions about guns in her home.

Supporters of the legislation, including the National Rifle Association, say they're seeking to stop doctors from invading their privacy. Critics of the bill, however, claim that doctors need to ask patients about guns to ensure their safety and to make sure they remain out of the reach of children.

Sounds like a win-win situation to me. I wouldn't want anyone that dimwitted anywhere near my kids. Of course it's a hassle finding another doc, but would you really want to keep seeing the guy knowing what a knot-head he is?

Your doctor asks if you own guns?

I am pretty sure the bill says a doctor can’t refuse you care if you refuse to answer the gun questions. That was the case that sparked the legislation. He can ask you anything he wants, but you don’t have to answer. That’s the essence of it.

Collusion is illegal.
This is tacit collusion: no explicit agreement, but is quietly understood that all such service providers do this so customers have no practical/viable choice.
One of the few legitimate roles of government is to stop such abusive practices.

If a leftist doctor wants to question people about their personal business that seems alright. What is unprofessional is for a doctor to retaliate against patients who tells them to mind their own business or who givea them an answer they don’t like.

Doctors should never permit their practices to become political causes or they will totally ruin the trust and respect the profession has earned with the American public. That is dangerous for everyone.

If you have a doctor asking about guns, you need to find a new doctor immediately, and tell the fascist rat bastard why you will not be back, on your way out.

Ask him if his malpractice insurance covers advice he gives in a field that he is not qualified in.

Having not carried a kid to the Doctor, except the Vet, is it routine for the Dr. to see your child without a parent being present?

Anti-gun doctors will question the parents and kids without the parents if they can.

I stay in the room with my children and their physicians. When they ask I tell them it is none of their business. I talk with my kids beforehand about those types of questions. I get some mild blank stares in return. But really, it is not the doctors' or nurses' business.

I don’t see why we need a law. If some doctor ever asked me that, I’d tell him it’s none of his damn business.

No we never left our children alone with them, but we did tell them how to respond if questioned about guns in the home.
This was sort of a big deal back in the late 80’s, early 90’s when the AMA suggested it be done.

As children get older some pediatricians would prefer to see them alone, so they can ask questions about sex and birth control.

I reported a nurse from an ER who asked our daughter about birth control. When our very pretty daughter, age 16, said she was not sexually active the nurse said, “wow really?” and looked at our daughter like she was a freak. She then whispered to her I can ask your father to leave so we can really talk. Our daughter said “there is nothing my father can’t hear.”.
I called the hospital and told them I thought the nurse was way out of line and that she should have shouted “WOW! HONEY GOOD FOR YOU!”

Said trust being where? Doctors are political folk and you realize that now that so many want Obama's health care plan. Especially the younger ones.
