Indianapolis— Five students arrested at an immigration protest at the Indiana Statehouse Monday will not face deportation. Federal authorities lifted detention orders against the illegal immigrants Tuesday evening.

The detention was lifted shortly after the five declared a hunger strike Tuesday. The students say the hunger strike will last until Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels (R) vetoes the immigration bill he has previously promised to sign. The students were part of a protest that went all the way to the front door of the governor's office.

Senate Bill 590 would make illegal immigrants pay much higher tuitions. The cost would be three times what they pay now. The bill, when signed into law as expected, would make illegal immigrants pay out of state tuition fees.

House Bill 1402 would crack down on employers hiring illegal immigrants by making companies use an e-system to verify workers are documented. Sayra Perez, Ana Ruiz-Toyar, Erick Gamma, Guadalupe Pimentel and Uriel Gamma still face criminal tresspass charges for the protest. Idamarie Collazo was also arrested for resisting arrest and interferring with a police officer.

You didn’t REALLY think Holder was going to uphold US Immigration Laws against a group of DEMOCRAT ACTIVISTS going after a potential Obama opponent, did you?

To put it another way, one that we ignorant Crackers might understand, they be almost HIS PEOPLE, doncha know...

NOTHING is illegal now if DONE-WHILE-DEMOCRAT, up to and including targeted assassinations. Just ask anyone in any non-Fox New York or Washington Media office.

That's going to take, like, forever.

So, they're going to "self-deport" their way out of the state?

I think it worked for Gandhi, but he’s about the only one.

I hope Daniel's signs the two bills if he hasn't already. They are necessary and justifiable measures.

Illegals are the ultimate "out of state" students.

No deportation? The Feds are a joke.

Our government is the potent, the omnipresent teacher. For good or for ill, it teaches the whole people by its example. Crime is contagious. If the government becomes a law-breaker, it breeds contempt for law; it invites every man to become a law unto himself; it invites anarchy. - Louis Brandeis

If the government can pick and choose which laws it upholds and enforces
then can't I choose which laws I won't comply with?

Remember back when Rev Al Sharptongue was arrested in Puerto Rico, “protesting” about the Vieques Island Bombing Range?

He immediately went on a hunger strike at the jail, and after a week or so, he had GAINED weight.

Same thing happened to a San Pablo, CA woman a few years ago.

It is amazing how many calories “hunger strikers” take in daily, and I don't expect these chicas to fair any differently on their hunger strike either.

And where was Ohaha during this outrageous trampling of US law? In Texas sucking up to illegals for votes---mocking Americans who defend our laws.

Americans have every right to expect a US president to use the power of his office to defend THEIR interests against invaders intent on undermining US ntl security.

Ohaha sides with Third World invaders inside the US---foreigners w/ a hidden agenda who hold US laws in utter contempt.

People suckered in for the "here for a better life" scam should read this.

The indigenous people who were here when the Southwest was annexed to the USA became citizens. And their descendants are lucky that Mexico does not govern those territories today.
