Republicans accuse President Obama of ‘enemies list’ in Boeing case

Business leaders and Republican politicians accused President Barack Obama on Tuesday of punishing GOP states by trying to block Boeing from opening a major aircraft plant in South Carolina.

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley said the National Labor Relations Board’s move to compel Boeing to build a second 787 Dreamliner factory at its hub in Everett, Wash., should alarm all governors and state leaders.

The NLRB’s top lawyer, Lafe Solomon, filed a case in April charging Boeing with union- busting and retaliating for past strikes at its Puget Sound facilities in deciding to locate the Dreamliner assembly line in South Carolina, one of 22 so-called right-to-work states.

Haley vowed to use all her powers to ensure that the plant, which South Carolina’s government gave Boeing $900 million in tax breaks and other incentives to lure, opens as scheduled this summer next to Charleston International Airport.

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky. charged that Obama was targeting Republican states by stacking the NLRB with members who wanted to limit right-to-work laws, which prohibit requiring workers to join unions.

"Mr. President, do you have an enemies list?" Paul asked. "Is this decision based on the fact that South Carolina appears to be a Republican state with two Republican senators? Is this decision because South Carolina is a right-to-work state?"

I don't see how the government has any kind of a case. How can the Government tell a corporation where to build a plant? I've never heard of it being done before. Maybe Boeing will just build one in China, that ought to make Obummer happy!

"Is this decision because South Carolina is a right-to-work state?"

That's exactly why. Obama hates the free market, loves the concept of the government controlling every aspect of the economy, and could never be elected without the support of unions. Of course he's trying to block this plant. Go Governor Haley and go Boeing!

I worked as a contractor at Boeing in SC on the 787 when the employees there voted down the Union. That’s all Boeing was waiting for. The purse-strings opened and Boeing begin to pump mega dollars into the new final assembly facility there. I have a friend who is flying to Charleston today for a job interview tomorrow. Boeing hates the union. I’m sure if given the right circumstances, they would even leave the haven of the the Pacific Northwest and the stranglehold that the Union has on Boeing there!! LABOR UNIONS SUCK!!!

No doubt the NLRB will rest their case on a lesser-known provision of The Equalization of Opportunity Act.

So Ironic that in the week we here about China launching their "Boeing", we also hear that the United States Government slapped a lawsuit on Boeing preventing them from opening a competitive, state of the art facility in South Carolina.

Personally, I am sick of people complaining about China and how we need to Tariff this or restrict that from China. How about lifting regulations and barriers on US Companies, allow workers the right to work and implement a FAIR or FLAT tax. If we did that we would kick their butt 10 ways to Sunday.
