Gov. John Kasich says federal workers have 'zippo, zero' ability to collectively bargain

Equity among workers is one of Republican Gov. John Kasich’s most consistent arguments in favor of Ohio’s new collective bargaining law.

The law, Senate Bill 5, will bring Ohio’s public workers closer in line with private sector workers, who, on average, pay more for health care benefits and have weaker pensions, Kasich repeatedly has said.

Now the governor is weaving collective bargaining for federal workers – or lack thereof – into his support for the law.

Even though SB 5 restricts collective bargaining for the state’s 360,000 public workers, they would still be better off than federal workers, Kasich recently told a Youngstown radio show.

"Two million federal workers negotiate zippo, zero," Kasich told radio host Dan Rivers on April 26 when discussing SB 5. "There is no collective bargaining for federal employees."

Kasich’s assertion is actually quite true: federal government employees have practically no collective bargaining rights, unlike many state and local workers. Yet another big difference between federal workers and the state/local sector.

Several things federal workers don't have ~ (1) Collective bargaining, (2) Inalienable pensions (you commit a crime in the private sector you get to keep your pensions and other assets ~ you do that in the federal government you can lose it all), (3) Patent rights ~ federal government agencies argue that ANYTHING you invent on your own time is theirs. They have over 100,000 lawyers to go to court against you.

I could go on and on and on.

The one big benefit you have is a COLA for your pension when you retire ~ Unless, of course, you get a Far Leftwingtard like Obama in charge and he says NO COLA. We are headed into the third year with NO COLA ~ even though COLA was part of the deal for working for them.

You can't trust the Left. They always lie.

That's also the case in corporate America. I had to sign papers to that effect when I was hired.

If it was not for the federal government, the states would fail big time. We still have to send Alaska for example more money then they send to Washington because the state for whatever reason cannot make it. Many states are like this. So get rid of federal workers and the federal government and many states will fall apart. We will not exist as the United States of America. And don’t tell me that crap about how you would love for the United States to fall apart because I don’t believe any real America really wants that.

I don't know for certain but I suspect the fact that Washington owns 95% of the land in Alaska may have something to do with that.

Alas, federal government employees DO NOT SIGN SUCH AN AGREEMENT and there is no law requiring it.

They just steal our patentable ideas ~ which is why you won't find federal government employees doing much in the way of new ideas or patents until they retiree.

It's a real smart public policy ~ they should find the guys who came up with it and put them on the rack and stretch them until their joints pop. Then make them really, really hurt!

The state of Alaska does quite well on its own, but the largest landowner in the state is shiftless and no-count.

A shiftless and no-count landowner that sits on massive oil reserves that they refuse to utilize and actually make some money from.

Easier to drill taxpayers than to drill rock.

My wife's a research chemist, with a dual role in scale-up, process development, and optimization in the field. She has over 18 US EU patents on novel chemistry and aparatus. With one exception every company has treated her like gold. The one which was a bad experience was European owned, expected employees to act unethically regarding intellectual property, and was extremely progressive and socialist in it's views. Whenever they needed cash, the government would just buy bonds and stocks. (Finland)

I hate to think of what's happenning to GM's intellectual property..................

My wife worked for a big German one and had nothing but wonderful experiences. But that was 15 years ago.
