The White House is standing behind its decision to welcome rapper Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr., AKA Common, to Washington, D.C. Wednesday night amidst controversy over the hip hop artists lyrics which include support for violence against cops and former President George W. Bush.
The president opposes those kinds of lyrics, said Jay Carney, White House Press Secretary.
Despite that opposition, Carney indicated that Common would still be welcome at An Evening of Poetry at the White House tonight.
Hes known as a socially conscious hip hop artist or rapper, who in fact, has done, a lot of good things, offered Carney. You can oppose some of what hes done and appreciate some of the other things hes done.

In the meanwhile he assembles his gang and their insprirational lyrics...
In the meanwhile he assembles his gang and their inspirational lyrics...
Sure is great to choose good things for the nation, huh...Obama!
Was this guy’s performance at the WH announced BEFORE Bush declined the invitation to accompany Obama to Ground Zero last week?
Sure. Like Osama Bin Laden. He did some good things, too. So why exactly did Obama target him?
only after, when asked about the lyrics, he responds, “i don’t know all the facts but the police acted stupidly”....
I just went and read several of his lyrics. Not one was without a dozen swear words, and I think every one was about sex outside marriage and glorified violence. My plan was to post some of it, but it’s just not possible. It’s hard for this old dog to understand the slang, I probably missed half the sex and violence references.
Any word that they will let their children listen to this ‘music’?
Heck, I could say the same thing about Adolf Hitler, Jeffrey Dahmer, and a host of other folks...
Thanks for the insight, and for upholding your standards, Mr. White House Spokesman...
If that gets out, he will most assuredly get uninvited.
If it’s so good - their children should be put front row and center...and perhaps a question and answer session would be in order...
Perhaps he could invite the former poet laureate of New Jersey, Amiri Baraka, to read his poem, “Somebody Blew Up America.” Do not overlook the good things this poet has done. He be teeching our youts good Inglish. Look at Detroit - the future of America.
He’s a friend of Obama’s. Went to Wright’s church with Obama. Was probably a big contributor. So of course he’s getting rewarded. I don’t care if he shows up at the White House, but it is what it is.
it bothers me that so few “Freepers”, relatively speaking, have spoken out on this travesty. This is the real Obamas surfacing. “Hate and disdain for America & most Americans, Women, Italians, Jews, Cops, GW Bush, etc.” Sad commentary about our once great country. And.....take my word for it, class warfare and hate for ethnics (this time Whites), any kind, eventually leads to slaughter and genocide of innocents. Leave Obama, Jones, Farrakhan, Wright to their whims and the trio from the thirties, Hitler, Mussolini & Stalin will be reigning supreme once more!!! Wake up America & Americans!!!
Cannot answer that question —
“Socially Conscious” = Radical Nutcase
And we all thought Slick Willie soiled the carpets in the White House...
And all the police unions are pissed at this, but not to worry they will circle the wagons in 2012 and will cast their vote for this turd.
Its just the language of illiterate, uneducated drug traders who have no respect for societal norms. Nothing like aspiring to a greater, better future.
Current peers to the first lady...er,,,,, first hoe that is.
