Educators say about 2,000 Libyan students who attend college in the United States are losing financial support from their home government.

The Spokesman-Review reports the Libyan government stopped funding the Libyan-North American Scholarship Program after the U.S. froze about $30 billion of its assets.

Nearly 40 Libyan students at Washington State University are among an estimated 2,000 nationwide who no longer will receive money for education and living expenses from the Libyan government at the end of the month.

One of America’s few exports—educations. I write recommendations for American students who have had a hard time getting a slot because foreign governments will pay cash in full, whereas universities have to come up with money for assistantships for American students.

In the past, Republicans have championed the idea of American taxpayers funding foreign students, as a way of "spreading democracy" and minimizing influence of groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood.

I'd rather we let the taxpayers keep the $$$.

Solution: just let your visa lapse, become illegal, then you can get free State Univ. tuition in Connecticut!

Let’s give Kaddafi a little credit.

How many third-world countries pick up the tab for their students attending American universities? How many Arab countries use their oil money for things like bringing water to their people out in the countryside, and even help out neighboring countries?

Kaddafi has his bad side, but he also has a good side, which is more than you can say for most third world despots.

“In the past, Republicans have championed the idea of American taxpayers funding foreign students, as a way of “spreading democracy” and minimizing influence of groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood.”

And then those foreign students with their graduate degrees in nuclear physics and chemical engineering return to countries that hate us and build weapons of mass destruction.

It’d be helpful if we can find away to keep the students in school. I’m sure the Left has enough millionaires and billionaires who could step up.

So much of Daffy being dictator- shelling out $100M for tuition and board in U.S. alone. When Libyan gets American diploma he has no student loan around the neck. All expenses paid by the government.
